Man, you guys are crazy. The wife and I totally dig the design and have an early reservation. Soon enough I will need to decide if I am going to keep the R1S or replace it with the CT. Will be a difficult choice I expect. CT will have the FSD package I locked in at the half-price in 2019 which (for those of you who do not know from someone who drives it every day) is awesome. If it has Tesla efficiency and over 400 miles of range I am probably in and the R1S is probably on the market despite the fact that it is an amazing vehicle. As everyone rightly points out, we know very little about the final vehicle specs, but soon enough all will be revealed.

After seeing one around the streets of Palo Alto, I'd be very surprised if that ugly thing will be anywhere near the bottom side of $50k. It just won't happen. As proof that there's at least one RC lurking about, here's some pictures of the thing I took as it was out in the wild last week.

AND YES, it's just as ugly IRL!

They just need to replace the casing. Everything else is great. I'm not a Tesla hater. I'm all for think "outside the box" but the exterior design of the cybertruck is just too much.
I'd still like to see it do the same kind of offroading that Rivian has done. Is it possible to take it through the Rubicon? Will we ever see one at Rebelle Rally? How about the TAT?

Seems there's a lot of hate for Tesla, and really for no reason than y'all being fanboys of rivian. Yes the concept of the Tesla cyber truck is unique, but literally y'all compare a well developed company to a startup. I'm sure the cybertruck will sell, either less or more than rivians, depending on the population. Remember, There's no test drive. We don't know how it'll handle or drive. All we have are rumors and pics. Who knows, it may handle better than the r1T.
I mean where's my tank turn?
If all we have are rumors and pics how do you know how it will sell?

And I was mocking Tesla WAY before I ever ordered my Rivian. Mostly because the company is run by modern day PT Barnum.

I'm no fan boy but if the specs & overall functionality is better than the DM I may go that route in spite of design.

I concur

Does that mean the max pack does not exist either?
At least the price and specs of the max pack are announced.

I'm sure it'll sell well. the same complaints were said about the rivian truck: ugly lights, heavy, inefficient, etc. Oh yeah the tank turn were taken away because "it'll cause damage to the environment when abused".
I'm not here to defend Tesla, I've never owned one. My first and only EV is the R1T.

Tesla about to taste their first flop.....
There are 2 million reservations for this monstrosity. While I sincerely doubt that they will actually sell that many initially, people clearly know how ugly it is and they are still lining up.

Tesla has something that no other OEM currently has: the ability to produce electric vehicles at scale with sustainable margins.

They are also keeping prices low to create strategic advantage over all other OEMs. The UAW strike will inevitably end in concessions from the Big 3 that will drive up the cost of producing EVs even further - further cementing Teslas advantage.

They don't even need to sell that many of these to make a profit because of how much control they have of their supply chain, vertical integration, and non-Union labor.

Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a CyberYuck™ with that fugly Uniwiper™ but to each his own. And if buying a CyberYuck™ takes at least 1 ICE vehicle off the road, then to RJ's point - it is good that this thing that only a mother could love exists in this world....

Wrong. Probably will be a good truck. True EV enthusiasts are happy to see any new EV, even those that they wouldn't buy for themselves.
Not ANY new EV - particularly ones that contribute to an industry reputation of rushed, poor build/reliability. Specifically, the one that I'm not happy to see is the Vinfast. Read some reviews about it - it sounds like the EV industry would be better off without the Vinfast.

True. We have no indication that CT will be a bad one, and most likely will be quite good. All we know for sure is that it has a polarizing design. Rivian fanboys are no better Tesla's.

To be fair, Elon could sell out a smart belt buckle that could elicit moaning sounds from the car if you dry humped it. So, it’ll be interesting to see how many of those 2M preorders fall through when specs and pricing are announced.
