for a time Rivian was very much the "LOOK AT ME! I'M IN A RIVIAN!" vehicle they could get attention in.
For me, it's because Rivian was the first EV truck available (and it seemed to meet enough of my requirements). If Rivian, Tesla, Ford, and Chevy had all brought their trucks to market at the same time, with the same availability, I would have been comparing features, price, usability, range, towing, off-road capability, etc. I like the look of the R1T, but I also like the look of the CyberTruck, as well as that of more traditional-looking trucks (Lightning). It was never about "LOOK AT ME."

But but but.. it will have Full Self Driving
Let's hope not as that "feature" is clearly not ready for prime time and may never be.

I love everything about the cybertruck accept it’s shape.

Elon should use all the research and development from cybertruck to make a full-size or midsize suv.

That’s what I would do as a CEO and request it too as a shareholder.

I disagree with this assessment that there is very little overlap. Also, no way it’s a “flop.” If it’s priced well, they will sell more than they can make for years. My guess, by end of 2025 there will be more CTs than any other e-truck on the road. It wont touch the Model Y or 3 in terms of sales, but I don’t think thats the goal.

I personally don‘t like the way it looks and like the idea of a more compact truck, so R1T was my choice. But I think it’s compelling and if the R1T didnt exist, good chance I’d consider it. I do in-fact have an early reservation, but I have no plans on buying one.

First, I am a smart ass, not a "know it all" :D
Me too... and that's why I like to point out ridiculous claims when I see them.

It's kind of like the Jets fans buying SB tickets the day after ARod signed the contract... how'd that work out for y'all? ?

Rivian buyers aren’t your traditional truck buyers either.
70% of Rivian buyers come from non-EV backgrounds.

The point is that Rivian helps to remove ICE cars. What percentage of CT buyers will be of non-EV backgrounds? My bet is little

Pretty different tone on the forums now vs. even just a few months back when the self proclaimed know-it-all's were constantly posting "it's vaporware.. it will never happen.. it's a scam,... I'm telling you!!" to the stark realization that it's actually being built and will be delivered to customers soon enough
Not really. I think most people believed it would exist, the whole vaporware comments were more addressed at the fact that the cyber truck is hidden behind a cloak of secrecy even right now. Its supposed to be released last month now promised "sometime next month, probably". You don't find that ambiguity even the least bit odd?

I just cancelled a transaction with a company this Monday because they were a week delayed without communication. Its been years since there were even any specs announced for a cybertruck let alone a release date. I get that the Rivian rollout wasn't that smooth but a year before I got my truck reviewers had one. I knew everything about it before mine showed up.

There's nothing like that about the cybertruck right now. In my view until some information comes out the cybertruck doesn't exist.

yawn.. the fanbois are hilarious.

Product dev is hard to understand.

Plaid had to be made for the drive units
(newer)Y had to be made for the casting process
SEMI had to be made for the thermal / battery / charging side.
the casting machine had to be made in order to make the entire base chassis.

all while non truck people cried about needing to fit it into their garage, thus a redesign and reengineering of many subsystems. 5% smaller CT. /barf.

We literally drive what was told as a /dyson car/ for many years. Riv is 12yrs old, they have so many things left to learn. Wonder what happens when that amazon money dries up? y'all good with 2-6mo waits for service? inability to buy parts without fighting with your RSC?

so funnnn

Cybertruck buyers aren’t going to be traditional truck buyers. So, I really doubt it’ll meaningfully replace ICE trucks.

The only people buying them will be existing Tesla fanboys
I'm no fan boy but if the specs & overall functionality is better than the DM I may go that route in spite of design.
My guess, by end of 2025 there will be more CTs than any other e-truck on the road
I concur
In my view until some information comes out the cybertruck doesn't exist.
Does that mean the max pack does not exist either?

Seems there's a lot of hate for Tesla
Calling out the Emperor for having no clothes isn't hate. In the fable it is only the pure innocence of the child that can see the truth and can say it plainly without fear of consequence. All the pro-Emperor bros spend a ridiculous amount of effort trying to deny the truth just so they don't offend the Emperor.

The Cybertruck has been just about as real as those clothes since it was first announced (four years ago - when they said it would be delivered BEFORE the R1T, for half the cost, and with twice the range). Fact. That may change in the near future. Fact. Stating the facts doesn't mean I hate Tesla. I'm just glad that in this case the clothes are metaphorical and I don't have to see the Emperor without actual clothes ...

I think it all depends on the pricing. If the first CT is less than $50k and has over 300 miles of range, it will be very successful. If the first CT is priced at $80k and also has around 300 miles of range, it will flop.

Many reservation holders think Tesla will stick to the pricing they provided at the reveal. Time will tell. I am skeptical they can maintain those price targets, especially considering inflation. But if they can, they will be sold out for a long, long time.

The long range CT was essentially the same price 69K(claimed at the time) & 500 miles, we will see how this flushes out. Probably more like 90K & 400miles.
