Appreciate the anecdote. I've read your previous comments on the ATL service center being among the best and they had given me a lot of hope that my Rivian would be repaired by some of the best techs in the country. I'd love to also hear that the inverters have been revised by the factory to prevent another failure like mine, but that remains to be seen.
I did have the 12V issue as well. It's been a year since they fixed it and I haven't had an issue since so I would feel confident that will be fixed.

At least now you'll see that you should've ordered a Compass Yellow from the start. Certainly one of the best colors out there. Tell me you haven't received compliments already.

It honestly makes my black R1S feel invisible in comparison. I get so many more looks and compliments on this truck, which is entertaining, but it's just not the right color for me. It has been growing on me, though.

I had a similar situation happen prior to delivery of a car about 15 years ago. Stuff happens in transport and in tight parking lots. They key is they took care of me and fixed it. They also said if the repair wasn't right, then I could order another car and it'd be done right.

That's the last thing I want. I love my R1S and I'm certainly a big Rivian enthusiast that wants to own and drive an R1S for a long time. This just makes it harder to maintain that enthusiasm.
I think I would feel the same way if this had happened to me.

Accidents happen. However you should push for totalling the truck. Give them the same experience they give to customers, based on some accident posts on the forum. Replacing entire side panel is not sustainable. These vehicles will be uninsurable.

I saw someone post above about diminished value, and it is worth asking Rivian about this. When you're not at fault this is typically something you can request from the other party after the claim is processed. Diminished value is them (typically insurance co.) cutting you a check to cover "diminished value." I'm not sure if Rivian will go for this, but it might be something they do.

That's only applicable for accidents that will show up via a Carfax or other VIN report. Since this happened at the service center and it's being fixed in house this repair will never show up therefore there is no value diminishment so nothing to compensate for.

I posted about my truck and the tree incident but that will not come up as an accident on my VIN. I know this sounds a little shady but its how all dealer accidents like this are handled.

They owe you nothing other than returning the vehicle to the condition it was dropped off in. No harm in asking for more but to even think of a buy back for a minor fender bender is laughable. See if you can get them to cover the cost of a full exterior detail job as that is a reasonable request to ensure the whole truck matches the areas that were damaged.

Sometimes shit happens and it sucks but this has nothing to do with confidence in the vehicle or Rivian as a company.

Not reporting to the insurance / Carfax annotation is one thing, but any experienced technician would easily spot the reconstructed areas and thus, diminish the values the vehicle when time comes for a trade.

Do what you believe is necessary because you are the one who's experiencing this.

Not if it's fixed right they wouldn't. That's the point of a professional repair and the whole reason why documentation of accidents exists in the first place.

If this happened to me I'd be okay with it. Already crashed a Rivian loaner vehicle so we'd be even now. :CWL:
