After this new update, my level 2 EV charger will trip the breaker each time I tried charging the R1S. I’ve never had to lower the amperage in the car for it since owning and charging each OTA update I had. This time I’ve tried lowering from 48A to 38A and still trips the breaker. I also did hard reset. I’ve opened up a service ticket.
I also did my first super charging prior to the software update that same day, could that have triggered something as well?

You did not say what the circuit is you are on. Is the charger hardwired or plugged in? If plugged in try using the portable charger and see if that works.

I charged mine yesterday after installing 2023.30 and testing the EVGo plug and charge. Plugged in when I got home and charged no problem on my L2 charger.

Guessing you have a wiring issue and the breaker trip timing is just a coincidence.

Agree event is most likely unrelated to software update. I updated mine all working well so far. Recommended you try charging at another level 2 wall connector. If that works your wall connector is the issue. If you have another EV handy you could also try that vehicle on the wall connector in question

tripping a breaker immediately upon starting a charge cycle tends to indicate a hard short in the 230 v wiring to the wall connector

If there is a "hard short in the 230 v wiring to the wall connector" the breaker will trip whether or not one is charging. The key word being "to" meaning "ahead of" the level 2 charger.

Now if you mean a short within the level 2 charger itself then you may be correct. Also, in the US it is 240 V. rather than 230 V. for many years now.

I have this same issue; a contractor will be here today to asses why it's happening. I did not correlate this breaker issue with an update, but it did begin around the same time. It also began around the time the temperature began to increase in California. I have been charging at night and reducing the amperage to 36. Sometimes it still trips and my breaker is about 100 yards from my house up on a hill--so I have been closing my fitness ring around 2 am when the power goes out.

This sounds like a wiring issue or a defective breaker. I would have a licensed electrician check everything over.

If it's in a closed, unconditioned garage and outside temps are high that could also cause the issue.

The car may try to cool itself during charging which if in a closed garage with no A/C will make temps go even higher.

If wiring is good you may have to reduce charge rate in summer months or ventilate the area.

the BMS is running a lot more aggressively since the update. A couple of times in a climate controlled garage ~70 degrees and cabin measure @ 73 degrees it sounds like a wind tunnel when charging on the rivian charger.

It’s a hardwire L2. It has no issues charging my other plug in hybrid. It has no issues using the portable charger at 110V, I have no 240V outlet nearby. The L2 charger is a solar edge EV charger that is hardwired into the inverter. Never had issues until this OTA update.
