I really regret having headphones on when playing that video. Especially when the sound starts and it's only coming into one ear. ?‍

Mine doesn't do that, but I only park in the garage (insulated) or in the shade (so far). Please keep us updated on getting it fixed!
:) Sorry that was my fault. Either my phone or the editing software messed up the audio. I thought one of my computer speakers was blown until it suddenly came back in stereo.

Everything else aside, there is no world where that noise coming from a passenger vehicle would be acceptable. You should never need to, "turn up the stereo" or whatever to have an enjoyable drive.

I think we all need to support whomever posted that video, and others experiencing a similar issue, in taking reasonable steps to get it solved. Having issues like this persist hurts all owners and the company.
Mine sounds like this on hot days. I put in a ticket. Mobile service came out, looked / listened for 30 seconds, and said its "within spec". "This is normal." "Nothing to see here." I was like "WHAT I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE LEAF BLOWER....SAY AGAIN??!?!?".. Tech Responded "YEAH LIKE I SAID ITS WHISPER QUIET!".

So according to Rivian this is in fact "acceptable".

Maybe this isn't a consistent issue across trucks. But to this point, they have been unwilling to address those that have this issue. Does this sound like the early days of tonneau issues to anyone?? (BTW my powered tonneau works great!).

I'll just continue to post gripes in online forums....Rivian will (eventually) do the right thing.

You have 2 options as a buyer. First is to speak with your wallet by returning within 7 days or not taking delivery.

The second option is you accept this Weedwacker and work with Rivian to be their guinea pig, which might result in you venting to social media when you have tickets after tickets with no resolution.

As an investor, I want this known ASAP and addressed with some sort of campaign. Just telling me this is normal behavior is seriously asking me to open my short position back up on Rivian after earnings pump.
Congratulations, you manage to turn a legitimate complaint into an unhinged screed. I don't think anyone is faulting you for being upset, but blowing up people on the forum with spammy rants and hyperbole doesn't accomplish anything besides pissing off folks who would otherwise agree with you. It's some real "temper tantrum at the cash register" shit.

The word for this is "spam." No, RJ is not hearing this shit, he's not here and typing "@RJ" does not make it so. It just makes life more annoying for the rest of us who are trying to use the forum and now have to scroll past your reply spam in five different threads on three different sub-forums.

It's all about being mindful about the audience. This forum is other owners and maybe someone from Rivian. That maybe person from Rivian sure as hell won't engage when the other person is irate.

When i had my issues with Rivian (to be fair, I *very* much still do) I knew the chain I needed to follow to get my issue escalated. I followed it. I was persistently kind. They were kind back. It took quite some time, but was resolved.

I am the OP on the, "tocking" or driveline lash post. Same approach there.

Effin Tesla with their invention of "within spec". I'm pretty sure all EV manufacturer service teams are taught this term on day1 of training.

Oh, I think Tesla got that from the legacy car manufacturers and software companies. It’s a more-official sounding version of, “They all do that.” and, “It’s a feature, not a bug.” combined.

Dealing with this issue myself. For those commenting that they don’t have these issues, what’s your VIN range and which state do you live in? I’m VIN 79xx. We are experiencing some crazy heat right now in Texas and this AC compressor or whatever it is sounds like it’s about to blow up! You can feel the vibrations in the steering and floor. Plus the dash even has a rattle.
Same for me. vin 81xx. In texas the heat is brutal.

Looks like there is a new software update coming soon that may address some of these issues:

Rivian Update 2023.22.00 - RivnTrackr

Additional Improvements
  • Heating and cooling:
    • Quickened response to hot ambient conditions and stabilized operation at low-mid ambient conditions.
    • Stabilized blower airflow when the vehicle transitions in and out of varying sun and shade conditions.
    • Removed the “on approach” touchscreen overheat protection since the cooling system is unable to cool the screen in the short approach period.
    • Disabled touchscreen safety requirements to improve range loss when the vehicle is parked in hot, direct sunlight.

Ohh..... I thought we were talking about the drive line clunk.... all 4 motors clunk when going to drive and then on de-acceleration,clunk..clunk..clunk..clunk!

Any one else got the clunks? SC also says its normal.

I'm glad my AC sounds quite.

Doesn’t sound like this will address the compressor noise and vibration that travels to the floor pan and pedal.

Yes, Microsoft’s response was/is frequently “This behavior is by design.”

If you want to show Rivian this is a problem you should at least add a poll asking how many others are dealing with it. Even better would be getting an idea of what range of VINs are experiencing this. That might actually get their attention.

Remember, there are plenty of folks who have been driving their trucks for over a year now, including during a hot summer. This is a recent issue.

They likely got a bad batch of compressors. Now they need to find solution and deploy.

It would just help I suspect alot if the service team was capable of deploying acknowledgement of issue and then that the issue is being worked on. Instead the early individuals who report the issues feel left in dark and potentially that they will be stuck with no solution.
Can someone post a spreadsheet thread to track VIN numbers of Rivians with noisy compressors?

This would identify if it’s a “batch” issue or a larger scale problem.
