Bolt extraction options@EV Sportline @BrookeRRivi I was reinserting the TP55 underbody bolts and I had just gotten to the final one and it stripped. I've attached the picture.
do you have a TP55 underbody bolt that you can send or let me know where I can purchase them? Could you also send me another TP55 bit?
Also, any recommendations on how to get the stripped bolt out? its not fully tightened to 80 ft-lbs but pretty tight before it stripped.

put 2-3 pieces of aluminum foil over it, hammer the TP55 bit through the foil into the head of the bolt...@EV Sportline @BrookeRRivi I was reinserting the TP55 underbody bolts and I had just gotten to the final one and it stripped. I've attached the picture.

I just encountered this issue with both rear bolts on both sides of the truck. 15xxx Jan ‘23 build, Mar delivery. For those of you with overlapping issue. What build date are your Rivians?
If you have and issue, let us know - message @BrookeRRivI just encountered this issue with both rear bolts on both sides of the truck. 15xxx Jan ‘23 build, Mar delivery.
I too encountered this issue. I have three brackets that need to be ground down to fit. One bracket in particular needs more grinding to fit against the bolts on the underbody. These pictures are of two of the three brackets that are in the process of being ground down, but not yet complete. The installation was going so well until this point. The directions are great. Nicely done. Unfortunately I don’t have any tools to grind the brackets so will have to wait for EV Sportline to send me an altered version. Seems there’s quite some variability in how the trucks were built!I too encountered this issue. I have three brackets that need to be ground down to fit. A couple of options that I see:
- If you have a good quality Vise Grip pliers, will it clamp on the bolt flange edges, perpendicular to the frame. use the handles of the Vise Grip to turn the bolt out.
- Drill a hole, maybe 1/4" diameter, in the flange of the bolt. Put the tip of a screwdrver in the hole with the screwdrive nearly parallel to the frame. Tap the screwdriver with a hammer to rotate the bolt out.
- Worst case - use an angle grinder to cut a slot in the head like a screw, and use a large screwdriver to turn it out. Or cut/grind the head off and turn the screw out.
In the Seattle area I rented a bay for 2.5 hours (~$150) from https://stewsgarage.com/ and did the install with a friend. It was fun and easy. Putting the car up on a lift helped a ton and made it easy. Using an air gun to get the bolts on and off was also super fun. I drilled the holes to install.Update for those looking for professional installs in the Seattle area: I found a couple of shops that were responsive and were the most reasonably priced.
What was the dimension of the tab on the new one?Guys, we updated that bracket - if you need one, hit up @BrookeRRiv (or you can grind it to get by for now)
Here is new (left) vs old (right)
