Going to install our Rmax boards soon on our G2 R1S. I've was surprised to see a T55 Torx bit included. It says 55IP. Is this a "Torx Plus" bit? I've read these bolts can be a bear to remove and definitely should use a Torx Plus and a breaker bar. I'm a little worried about getting them out. Did Rivian use thread locker? If so, any reason not to put a heat gun on them? Is an impact wrench a better idea than a breaker bar?

I'm assuming my 1/2" Pittsburg torque wrench will be sufficient for the install?

Thanks for any advice.
the guys who designed the ones I showed being fit to GEN 2 used a cordless impact wrench to remove existing bolts and reinstall. They used a torque wrench to finish / fit them all back.

I have the driver's side installed and wanted to give some tips that might help:

- used the included T55ip bit and a half inch Bauer impact wrench (on clearance at HF for $35)

- initially the impact wouldn't remove the bolts - charged the battery to full and they came out pretty easy - I highly recommend a variable speed impact

- make sure your hole saw drill bit is no longer than 1/4" past the cutting edge - any further and you will bugger up the paint on the frame and/or bolts

- Rivian used thread locker on the T55 bolts - I heated them with a heat gun before putting the impact on them - not sure if this is necessary

- I used medium strength thread locker on the T55 bolts and the bolts attaching the board to the brackets

- Since the hole saw had put a few scratches in the frame I sprayed some clear coat on the frame areas - I also put some clear on the bracket bottoms just because

- The front of the running board needed to be adjusted all the way out and the rear all the way in to make them look correct

- Will be applying black gorilla tape to cover the holes after we get the passenger side done

Unless you are tall and have no issues getting in and out these boards are a must have.
