Took my R1T on the Morgan City Wash trail near Lake Pleasant in the north metro Phoenix area today. Took the eastern portion of the Castle Hot Springs trail back towards Lake Pleasant back home to central Phoenix.

https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1845-morgan-city-wash

It's rated a moderate, but it's a pretty easy trail. Only tricky part is the very steep wash exit at Waypoint 9. The truck paused for a moment, but it just needed a heavier foot on the accelerator. It's also pretty narrow in parts going up the hill, but shockingly no pinstriping and the views are fantastic. The off camber up the hill was a little uncomfortable in a couple areas, but I've been in much worse.

Some pics are below. I'm going to review some DriveCam video and maybe put together a short video.

Put together a 3-1/2 minute video if anyone is interested.

Just a few notes:
- I aired down to the recommended 31 psi (for the 20's) using Heavy Duty Staun Tire Deflators:

Pricey, but saves a ton of time.

- I was able to run the whole trail in Off-Road, Auto, High

- If anyone at Rivian happens to read this, I used two since removed features - the 12V accessory port under the center vents to charge GoPro batteries; and the 12V frunk outlet to power my electric cooler. Bad idea to remove those.

Whenever I see someone out there like that, a part of me wants to actually knock on their door.

Funny. You're the 3rd local person who asked if I was going to take that trail.

I've never done that trail and would need to do that with a group for safety. Looking at the trail guide on Trails Off Road, the Waypoint 26 Waterfall and Waypoint 27 ledge look pretty challenging.

Maybe we can get a local Rivian group together and tackle this trail one day!

Great video! I love seeing Rivians used properly and their capabilities explored.

I don't mean any offense by this, and I'm super happy you had fun, but that trail could be run by a Subaru. Come on man, show me some (mild) off-camber rock crawling and / or deep water fording!

Thanks for the Staun's link. I have the 6-30 psi version from when I had my 4Runner, but didn't even think about it because I forgot about the pressure range. Guess I'll have to grab the HD version now.

As for the 12v...I lucked out and got the one in the frunk, but very unhappy I don't have the one in the center console. I can't imagine what possessed someone at Rivian to think that removing any of those was a good idea. Even the center console one, why wouldn't they have at least added a few USB ports or something in place of it!?

I've done the back road to CK a few times and have been wanting to do it in our R1S. We should get a few R1s together and go for it. Unless it has completely washed out, there shouldn't be any steps that are unpassable.

It has been years since I have done it. I had a 1980 3/4 ton Suburban (it was a beater), and took it a few times. Busted a tire once. My buddy also busted at least one tire on his Jeep.

I bought my R1T used and it has the road tires and no beefed up battery shield, so I would not take it on that trail. Lack of rock sliders is another issue. When I get my Hummer, I will definitely take it.

Great videos and pictures. I probably would chicken out with my Rivian but would totally do it once my 65 scout is finished later this year.
