Is it normal for the wiper to run once everytime you hit the brake to activate the car?

It happened multiple times today with clear skies and 90 degree weather.

I see it occasionally, always assumed it could be dust in front of the sensor. If you turn off auto wipers it does not do it.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
The vehicle will wake-to-drive upon pressing the brake pedal. If you leave them on auto, and the vehicle detects dust in front of the sensor, they’ll do a 1-swipe clear. Happens every time I park somewhere dusty/windy (which is every time I leave it parked outside).

This makes perfect sense!... clever too. It never occurred to me that dust might be cause of this. Definitely turning this off during pollen season down here.

Something is probably in front of your sensor. Mine started doing this and I assumed it was a new software glitch for months...then I realized a crack had spread across the rain sensor and eventually into my view. Give the windshield a good cleaning and inspection.

Edit to add: when I got a new windshield, the wipe-on-brake stopped

Yep. Happens every time if wipers are on auto. I’ve learned to ignore it. If it bugs you turn off auto wipers.
