But can existing owners get the new charging pad? I sure hope so. I'm also surprised so many people don't like or use the speaker. Any time I'm working in the yard at home, I'll pop it out and use it. We occasionally do fires in the fire pit, so we have it out for that. And for our annual 4th of July party, it's perfect. So I don't even camp, but I use the speaker quite a bit

RJ provides a great interview. Very thoughtful, informative answers.

MKBHD, not so much. I wish someone with true interview experience could sit down with RJ for an extended conversation like this.

Regardless, it's still a fun watch / listen.

I just like hearing nature when I'm outside and when I'm camping.

I already have a bluetooth speaker that sounds great in my garage. Time will tell if I use the built-in while I'm away from home.

I installed a RAM mount with MagSafe for now, but would hope that existing owners could retrofit if a better design does come out. Probably will wind up more expensive than the aftermarket options though.

Whoa, I've never seen Limestone resembling blue before. Is that for real or a byproduct of MKBHD's color grading?
If a camera's white balance is just a touch too cool Limestone turns towards baby blue

So RAN priority is opening up North to South network on east and west coast then going east to west across the US...

"about 30 sites up" for the RAN... It's 21 at this exact moment. RJ, announce another 9 as open this weekend, and I'll forgive you for a very generous "about". :CWL:

Marcus asked what's a good uptime rate for chargers. RJ said 99.5%. I'm glad they're shooting high!

They've got several hundred sites already in the pipeline in various stages of contracting, permitting, etc.

Great specifics on RAN. Couple hundred in two years.
At 19:15 he says 600 within 2 years. 600 by end of this year was the original goal, I think he misspoke and maybe 200 within two years and finish in 2026 timeframe. We will see.

I'm not sure about that. "in a couple years" would mean end of 2024 or first half of 2025. That's a slide of about 1 year to 18 months from their original plan, which I think is likely to be their goal at this point. Here's a comparison with Tesla's Supercharger location ramp:

I’ve used my Camp Speaker only once. It’s fine and I can see how some would find it useful, but for me, I’m locked into the Sonos ecosystem at home and already had a Sonos Move, so the Camp Speaker for me doesn’t have much practical value. I think it should be optional, but I’m sure it’ll be a neat parlor trick for me one day.

My guess is R2 will not have air suspension or hydraulic dampening.

...and I'd say when questioned about CarPlay, RJ's comments on the importance of having control of the Rivian UI Ethos/Eco-system just about puts the nail in the coffin of any one's CP/AA hopes.

Rivian’s having a sane CEO and founder who’s focused on all the right stuff is already refreshing
