The KO2's look great! I have some input on range on more aggressive AT tires. I have Cooper AT3's Discovery in the OEM sizes and they weigh 11lbs more each (I weighed both). Here is the interesting side note. On the Coopers the operational pressure range is up to 80PSI and it's 50PSI on the Scorpions.

I have a test freeway track (55 miles with some grade and flat) that I do efficiency testing on. The AT3's lost about 4% on efficiency at 50PSI, BUT at 65PSI this dropped to 2%. Just finished a 900 mile road trip with them and they did work out to about 2% less efficiency, which I can absolutely deal with. Great BFG tire though! Sorry for the slight hi-jack.

Any more noticeable steering wheel vibration at high speeds with the heavier tires? I have seen some postings on increased steering wheel vibrations at highway speeds due to the "loosey-goosey" CV-half shaft issues/play, perhaps magnified by the heaver tires. Also, how's the ride at 65psi?

This is another interesting factor. I had my truck in twice for wheel vibration and the last time Rivian SC did a road force balane and it was slightly better. The Coopers are noticeably better at all speeds. Not perfect, but significantly better. They are almost as quiet as the Scorpions and the ride is a bit firmer, but I think because the OEM operational pressure range of the AT3's is higher by design, it is more than comfortable. I might try 70PSI. I'm at 2,900 miles on the Coopers.

Your truck looks great! How was handling and drive at 65PSI? Any indication of abnormal tire wear After 900 miles? It might be a good idea to keep it at stock 48PSI around town were range is less important, and bump up to 65 for long trips.

Funny - I’ve had both these tires on my Land Cruiser and liked them both. Good to hear on the efficacy of the Coopers, will likely go back to the AT3s once my stock are worn out.

The 48PSI daily is solid input! Zero signs of abnormal tire wire at 2,800 miles. Thanks!

80PSI!!! That's wild. It's great to see more real data coming in on other tire options. The Coopers are good tires.

The one thing I've enjoyed about the Scorpions so far is that I've had no balance issues. With KO2s on other trucks I've needed to road force balance more than once sometimes to get it right.

KO2's are my favorite all-rounder tire. Road noise is way low compared to anything mud tire, snow performance is excellent, and they can be wheeled relatively well in anything but mud (they dont sling mud off like mud tires, obviously). Very curious on the range impact. I also imagine you must have done load range E, C wouldn't be enough for this truck.

Sexy.

I had KO2's on my E350 Sportsmobile. Very respectable on the road, very good in snow, but still in a different league on packed snow and ice compared to a dedicated winter tire.

Nice. This is what I plan on changing to when the stock Pirelli ATs start to wear. Please update this thread if you notice any downsides and thanks in advance!

Happened to stumble upon this video when doing some winter tire research last week. It pretty much answers the OP's question regarding are chunky tires good in snow....

Thank you for sharing - did you lose the 2-4% range compared to stock Rivian AT's or the stock road/sport tires?

I'm not much of a fan of the stock AT’s. They have been decent (18K miles) but not great. I couldn’t make it home this week during an ice storm, and my R1T was uncontrollable. I had to hike home and grab my 2008 LandCruiser on BFG KO2’s. The cruiser walked thru the snow and ice like the roads were clear. I really think this truck needs a dedicated snow tire in the winter, but wanted to give it a fair comparison to the LC. I will report back later on range loss and snow performance. So far, I am enjoying the slightly stiffer profile. It feels similar to stock on drive pavement. Looks great IMO and they are quieter (new vs 18K miles). If they dont work in snow, I will make these my 3 season setup and get a dedicated snow package. I hope this works.
Did you perform a software update for the speedometer or range estimator?

Does your TPMS still work?

Love seeing some real ATs on the truck!
Personally I have experience with Goodyear Duratracs (loud and slick in rain) and the Toyo AT3 (excellent all around) and I wouldn't hesitate to put the Toyos on the R1T when needed. I'm sure everyone is eeking about losing another 30 miles of range, so hopefully the impact is less than that.

Over OEM AT's....that is all I've ever had.....I did a 900+ mile road trip on the Cooper's and the impact was minimal and I love the tires....much more robust for off-road and with an elevated tire pressure...it's minimal.....

It’s important to note that the door jamb tire pressure only applies to the original tires. Changing to a load range E heavy duty tire will require different pressure which can be calculated from the manufacturer’s tire load charts.
