Agreed the: a few weeks. Maybe a few months unless the snow hits early.

I did an experiment at our house this past weekend. Took my 50' welding cord and a couple of adapters up this time. Plugged into the dryer outlet and turned the charging rate down to 24amps. Worked perfectly! Going to buy a shorter cable and leave it at the house.
Getting a bid this week on an outdoor dryer outlet (no garage) but if these chargers are online soon and they're fast, might just save the money and deal with a bit of inconvenience.

I agree. They are close enough to make it worth the drive to charge up.

Ooooh. This one will be in the *PERFECT* location for my towing trips to Bend. Last tow journey, I was *JUST* shy of being able to make the existing Madras stations - so had to stop in Warm Springs at the slow EVCS station at the casino. This location is far enough North that I should be able to make it - plus it being a faster charger, and Rivian near-certain to make at least one pull-through capable spot? :chef-kiss:

Hopefully it gets built soon!
If you go through here there is already some of the infrastructure for the station built up, I think just waiting on the actual Rivian hardware. Hopefully soon.

It is nice, but not essential, to have the vehicle plugged in at home in winter. I'm always plugged in during winter. But mostly just to charge in summer. Many people probably do similar in cold weather climates.

A nice aspect of EVs with an API is that I can be prompted if I'm not plugged in outside the parameters I set. I've done this with tesla and I'll add that to Rivian when I get it.

Stopped by the RAN chargers in Truckee today. They are right off Donner Pass Road and Highway 80. They are definitely under construction. Looks like there will be at least 4 chargers (maybe more). The bases and conduit were in the ground but no electrical or physical chargers to be seen.

Very cool! I know that parking lot well.

Hopefully they are commissioned this winter.

Also @SACDFJC seems like you have good taste; Limestone R1T and a 40 series! I sold my '78 BJ40 a few years back and have been looking for a roller to convert to electric.

My wife and I went down to Mt. Shasta easlier this week for a few days. On our way down, we stopped at the RAN charging station in Crescent, OR to check on the construction. It doesn't appear that any work has been recently performed. The clerk at the Shell station where the charging station will be located said that there was a flurry of activity some time ago but nothing has been done recently.

So not "s00n". :-(

Was able to get a little more solid information about the RAN site that will be going into the Blowing Rock, NC area. Drove by the Tanger Outlets last week while on vacation in the area. There's construction going on in a couple spots, but it looked more like structural/engineering/grading type work. Seemed like a dead end, but I just did some searches and found this article from the local paper that mentions an agenda item from the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce's meeting in April 2022. The item notes Rivian is planning 4 chargers at the Tanger Outlets (Shoppes at the Parkway).

Still don't think that's the ideal location, since downtown is just a few minutes away and has much more to do, but the outlets will probably be better for anyone towing. Getting downtown with a trailer could be a huge pain. It also sounds like the city and/or Chamber are considering whether to install more charging downtown. There are currently a couple of L2 chargers in the American Legion parking deck.

I know this is a long shot but does anyone know if there is any movement on some of the northern Minnesota chargers? I travel up there once a year and hope to have my Rivian by my next trip (June 2023). Seems like northern Minnesota is a charging desert. Would be nice for the RAN in Duluth and Cook to be operational. I'm not sure if EA even has plans to put chargers in northern Minnesota.

Pretty sure there is no progress. Only good news I can offer is EA has started construction of a station in Pine City (near Hinkley) on I 35.

I've been watching and listening as much as I can but there's nothing that I've heard of from RAN as of yet.

As far as EA goes, the furthest North they've shown as their current phase is Duluth.

Thanks Budman and Polecat. Duluth would be helpful since I'm headed to Lake Vermillion next summer. I also visit Cass and Leech but that looks even worse. Having something at least in Fargo or even Bemidji would be nice.

Had my service appointment today at the Chelsea service center, and there is all this new construction. I asked and they confirmed Rivian Level 3 chargers are coming soon!

Looks like equipment is showing up for the installation at mesa mall in Grand Junction, Colorado. It will be less of a detour off the interstate than the EA chargers at Sam's club!
