Did you read page 5 of Rivian's Warranty (just updated 9/30/22). Road Side Assistance: Rivian states (paraphrasing) if it's service work, it's on you, if it's Warranty work and you are working with Rivian, Rivian will cover towing.
Yes. It’s all warranty work - issues that existed when the vehicle was delivered and nothing I had the opportunity to cause myself :)

Okay, so you think it's minor... Over a dozen "minor" things starts to not feel too minor, to me.... But whatever, let's say they're minor... That means I should pay hundreds or even a thousand or more dollars so Rivian can fix their mistakes? I do not agree.
Rivian is probably just hoping your truck develops a problem that renders it undrivable so they can tow it for free for you

I guess I'm confused, so if it's all Warranty work and you're actively working with Rivian on bringing it in for service, the Warranty States Rivian will cover towing, why is there an issue? So Rivian is just flatly not living up to its Warranty?

Because they have made a change on 10/05 that claims they will only provide towing for vehicles that are disabled, and technically my vehicle isn’t disabled.

I can't believe the audacity of you using their, RJ's, own words against them!! Where's Tony... anyone seen or heard from Tony? Get him in here stat!

Just kidding, great job quoting them.

Obviously super complex issue, and I don't think current ops are financially sustainable. But give people a freaking heads up.
Nothing in there says they won't charge you for the mobile service persons time nor the pickup.

The line you are looking at implies that the vehicle has to develop a problem that requires the tow.

I got ya...They should also update the Warranty on their Website...most recent is 09/30. Man, I'm getting close to getting my R1T. After 30 yrs of owning Honda & Acura's, non of which have ever left me stranded or even required more than usual maintenance, I hope I'm up for this challenge. If not, it will be a short marriage.

Uh, don’t hate the player/hate the game?

I have no control how Rivian works.

My closest delivery SC is 2.5hrs. They could not do an 8hr total dash disassembly and replace radar computer. (Took Atlanta two tries - 4 6hr tows)
Sorry.. it 1000% wasn't directed at you, happy you got your vehicle!... It's just amazing how twisted their "logic" is when it comes to deliveries.

I’m really hoping these are isolated issues from recently produced units.

I have utmost faith that Rivian will get these corrected in future production. Just something we have to live with for now.

Exactly, I guess I didn't expect Rivian to come to pick up my truck if it is drivable. I would schedule service and bring it in; yes, this will be a great distance for me.

So....I'm way late here, but I seem to be missing something (maybe more):

1.) Why would you want your non-disabled vehicle to be towed to a Rivian service center? If you can drive it, why would you ever trust it to a tow truck anyway? Haven't we seen enough delivery carnage from truck operators?

1) Rivian is picking it up, not a third party.
2) it’s a 130-mile one way trip for a vehicle with an alignment and wheel balance issue - no thanks.

Because some people live several hundred miles from the nearest service center. Dropping your vehicle off/picking it up from a location 300 miles away is quite inconvenient and very expensive. At least two days taking off work, plus two very expensive taxi rides.

Just got mine back from service on Tuesday. Guess I dodged a potential bullet ? . Here’s the reality though…the third party independent haulers are a real crapshoot. For pickup last week the guy was almost 5 hours late with a string of texts “I’ll be there at X”, “30 minutes out”, “45 minutes out” etc. basically held me hostage all afternoon. I could have easily made the round trip in that amount of time.

But that was a cakewalk compared to the return trip for which the hauler just never bothered to show up. After numerous discussion with the freight company a second driver picked the truck up at 6pm, several hours after I should have had it home. This driver didn’t need to be punished with a long night to return home at 1AM so I let him bring it on Tuesday.

Free towing or not, if my truck needs service in the future I will almost certainly be driving it to the SC. I burned WAY more of my time waiting than I would have making two round trips to Atlanta.
