All of my issues were discovered at delivery and I had two options. Submit support tickets to fix the issues, or reject the delivery. All my issues seemed to be easy to manage and my delivery agent agreed. He told me all of which would be taken care of by Richmond Service Center. Getting an appointment was easy, but trying to reschedule was like pulling teeth. THEN, the news about towing fees drops today really ground me down.
What does rejecting delivery mean? They take it back to fix it and try again or you forgo to vehicle?

Exactly how it went with me too. And if I had refused delivery there was no estimate on when I would get a truck.

I personally would have rejected delivery if I had noticed PPF missing on the gear tunnel and the second paint imperfection on my driver-side rear passenger door. At least that door and gear tunnel were repainted.

This is disconcerting news for anyone who doesn't live within an hour of a service center. I don't have proof, but I have definitely been told and seen something along the lines of "if something goes wrong, we'll either fix it with mobile service, or tow your vehicle to the service center and back for you".

I'm currently waiting on a callback from service for an issue I've had since last week. Actually, there's several issues, but the one last week is the first serious one, which is my communications module (GPS, Cellular, & WiFI) is dead. I also cannot reboot the vehicle (and they won't/can't walk me through a 12V disconnect, either). The other ones are the well-known u-joint squeak, and a minor but annoying rattle in the driver's door or B pillar.

I held off getting service scheduled last week because my other vehicle needed some work, and I wanted to make sure I had one fully functional vehicle before sending the truck off, because my nearest service center is the factory, where I picked the truck up. Which is 300 miles away.

For the squeak & rattle, I was planning to wait until they opened the Nashville center, which is about 200 miles away. Even with Nashville, this change is not an acceptable situation. We have a second truck on order (R1S), and if they persist with this, it might make owning these vehicles impossible for us.

Tesla never charged me to tow the vehicle to Cincinnati (~100 miles) while it was under warranty, but they also fixed most things with the ranger. Once the warranty expired, it became a very expensive vehicle to own due to towing costs, and is one of the (many) reasons we were planning on swapping it for an R1S.

I'm really hoping this is a miscommunication, or there's more to this. ☹

My recent tow to the Brooklyn service center would have cost over $1300 each way under these prices!

This is tremendously disappointing.

My R1T has a misinstalled panel between the windshield and glass roof that is causing loads of wind noise. At the rate posted in the first post, it would cost me NEARLY $1,800 to get it towed in to be fixed. Rivian can't even open a service center in PA.

I've already received the $0 estimate as it was setup last week, but this makes me worry about the tow back.

This is fucking ridiculous.

That will start in March when peoples first year of ownership and included Rivian membership ends. That was always an expectation at least that was my understanding. No one knows for sure what it will cost and what will be included though.

They have changed the verbiage from '1 year' to 'extended period of time'. So yes, it will happen, but we don't know exactly when.

Didn’t realize they had changed that. Presumably it will be > 1 year otherwise that would be an issue. Makes sense though for them to wait until they build out their charging network/services etc.

I agree with this. Panel gaps can be remedied at any time and don't affect the vehicles ability to drive.

An inoperable vehicle however would be something I assume Rivian would eat the cost to have towed if needed.
Fix them at the plant before asking field to fix them....would save alot of money...
It's not a simple alignment issue. There's something wrong in air suspension system, or the front ride height sensor. My front right is typically 0.5-1.0" lower than the front left.
Something is amiss with why many lean right and pull right. And noisy too.

Feel free to read my other post about Rivian service having a computer system that gets the truck to put everything into the proper settled position and then disables the automatic adjustments that they had to fight to do alignments. The change was sometime in April. Just having specs means your shop could probably check the alignment, but actually doing repairs is likely to make things worse.
That’s all software. Rivian could add a toggle on the service menu just as they’ve already done for wiper service and tire change. They choose not to so no I don’t think it’s reasonable that they say they’re the only ones who can do it but they’re so overloaded that you can’t get it done for months and if they ever feel like doing it you will have to pay $1000+ for the privilege.

It's software on the service side, it's not part of the vehicle software. They are directly controlling the hardware from the service computer.

Then that is their choice. No one else refuses to share the software and specs. Rivian isn’t alone in offering air suspension. I don’t think this is a problem with other brands.
