I thought the R1S had blindside cameras for lane changes. ? Also, I saw somewhere that it has parking assist cameras to avoid curb rash.
There is a top-down 360 view that helps with curbs, but you do not get a specific side camera view when parking.

You can switch back and forth between the top down 360 and side view in the camera screen.
…how have I never realized this?

Well I get to try something new after work today!

There are two icons in the bottom left corner of the camera screen. one is a camera with an arrow indicating front or back, the other is a rectangle with an arc on each side. The rectangle icon toggles between Top Down 360 and Side View.

I have a very narrow garage opening, so the side view rearward is incredibly useful in making sure I can squeeze in those rear haunches without rubbing.

I posted this on twitter and this is what he said

I would expect if he buys one to order like everyone else and not try to pull strings and jump ahead. He is more upstanding thank some other “reviewers” who have a way smaller subscriber base.

When you think of the price difference between a McLaren and an R1S, it’s not hard to see where the value lies.

I don't know how his completely unremarkable videos narrated by Kermit the Frog ever found such enormous success. He sort of "invented" the youtuber "trust me, I'm a goofball" persona. I watch most of the youtubers on Rivian just in case there's something I've not seen (e.g. off road driving) … just set to 2x playback speed with the audio muted. : )

I wouldn't be surprised if it dinged a couple points because he didn't want it higher than an F1. Car forums would lose their minds if anything was ahead of an F1.

Great review, big fan of Doug and he points out a lot of things I normally would be concerned about, that other reviewers miss.
The McLaren F1 is by no means an everyday commuter car, so the daily scores for the F1 are low. And the R1S/R1T are not track focused, or sport car focused (as a true sports car). Doug's scores give equal weight to daily and weekend categories, which don't always apply when comparing apples and oranges. It seems like a pretty disingenuous way to compare the two vehicles. Someone shopping for a F1 (if that's even possible) isn't considering a R1S/R1T instead.

No argument that it is an apples to oranges comparison.

The accomplishment for Rivian is that their brand is being mentioned in the same breath as legendary McLaren. For such a young manufacturer, that’s pretty huge.

Couldn’t agree more.
I find him useless but he’s running a successful business so I know I’m in the minority.

He is 100% formula at this point, but in the past he wasn't. I found him quite witty when he first started doing his thing and / when he was writing for Jalopnik.

At this point it's inertia. I think people tune in for the cool cars, not him. I remember him doing a video about the Volkswagen XL1. I thought it was a great video due to the sheer wonderfulness of the vehicle. He was just a prop.

TL DR - He is the Pat Sajak of YouTube car hosts.

You read my mind. He has a successful business so he is clearly doing something right. Not my cup of tea though.
