I’m surprised he dinged it on handling.

It's a 7000 lbs truck being ranked on the same scale as a McLaren F1, of course it won't do well on the handling metric. And again, it's 7000 lbs, so even against something like the Cayenne Turbo S, X5M, etc it won't do as well. It's simple physics. The R1 handles well for a truck/SUV, but it's NOT a sports car and was never intended to be.

Sold out is sold out. Also, the offroad hipster vibe is stronger in the R1T. So build order was perhaps a branding choice.

I think being first to market was important and they beat Ford by just a few months whereas for the S the competitors are a year away from Kia, Lucid, Ford etc.

For the rear washer on the wiper. That is the only difference in the front from the R1T.
