The stock does seem to update as indicated - and get snagged quickly. I had access this morning, saw a truck matching my config (everything except being an LE - which didn’t matter since I was getting Limestone with 21” wheels) and selected it. Looks like the rest of the options went quick. Hopefully trucks come is just as plentifully tomorrow.

This may be a good example of why they are mainly pushing Adventure trims in the store right now. People who had LEs are willing to step down and take an adventure trim as opposed to wait for what may be a more costly (to Rivian) LE given the free wheel upgrades those offered. In this case, it didn't matter, but for someone who wanted the the free wheel upgrades and got it for free with LE, may now switch to the 21s or opt to just pay for the upgraded wheels to get the truck sooner. Helps Rivian from a cost perspective.

On the contrary, some folks with Adventure trims are getting Launch Editions with wheel upgrades at no cost.

Yeah, the LE designation per the VIN wasn’t worth it to me since I wasn’t leveraging the free upgrades. It did seem wrong to drop the “LE” after 1300+ days of patience.

@astonius given the only people in the shop are the earliest preholders right now, statistically speaking the majority of them ordered LE since they were the same price as adventure at that time. Also, given we’ve seen very few LEs in the shop, one would say that most trucks being picked from the shop are adventure. Before the shop, I’d say the odds were more that someone with adventure could get an LE but right now that doesn’t seem to align statistically with the shop.

Someone earlier in this very thread had an Adventure reservation and was shown LE options with wheel upgrades and no price adjustment for the wheels. Both RJ and my guide told me this isn’t happening. Clearly it is.

@astonius I don't believe I saw RJ say that wasn't happening. And yes, there's a chance it's happened in the shop because there have obviously been some LEs in the shop (very few based on the forums) and not every preorder was an LE, so yes, there is a chance it's happened, but again, statistically speaking, it's far more likely that LE preorders who get access to the shop, are opting to either stay with their LE configurations and probably wait for their builds, or their opting to take an adventure trim earlier. Or someone may have had an LE, but changed configuration to be adventure, then got access to the shop and found an LE and took it which is also likely. Which in turn, would maybe lead to less LEs being produced than Rivian originally planned to make thus just one minor way they are trying to save on costs.

Example: Produce 2,000 less LEs than originally planned, you save around $2,500 (not sure what actual cost is) on average for each of those on wheels alone that's a quick savings of like $5m (yes, some people may have kept the 21s, but most probably upgraded). let alone some of the build time and effort in adding the small LE badging as opposed to just focusing on Adventure. That's just based on them choosing an adventure with 21s, but if they did an adventure with an upgraded wheel, now that's a swing of $5k, cause they have to pay the additional $2,500 now instead of getting it for free. It's not a bad play.

RJ told me directly in an email that Adventure reservations would have to pay for LE upgrades. My guide told me in no uncertain terms that Adventure reservations would not be allowed to see and select LE builds at all in the R1 Shop. Both of these statements are demonstrably not true.

Regardless of the numbers, if the point was to push LE holders to take builds without free wheel upgrades to save money they damn sure would be certain not to give those upgrades out for free to non-LE holders. Furthermore, as LE holders reject the builds with 21s Rivian will be forced to produce more LEs than originally intended. I suspect, like myself, most LE holders will happily wait for their upgrades.

@astonius I’m all for people holding for their configurations. May get me access to the shop quicker. I would also suspect a decent amount of LEs keeping their configurations for the reasons outlined, but some are exhausted from the wait. I don’t blame them

Since you're pen pals with him, can you ask him to add Carplay/android auto? Thanks!

Reasonable perspective. For me, it's just the spare (for now) that I'm sacrificing. Guide says spare wheels will be able to be ordered "very soon." But we know Rivian has a loose definition of 'soon.' Just sort of surprised there no full size spare available, even aftermarket. And my original delivery window is/was 6 months away, and the waiting frankly is getting old. Not to mention they say you go to the back of the line if you bail on the expedited Shop configuration!
What's weird to me is that with my non-Shop order, I forgot to add the spare back when I changed from 20s to 21s. Guide had to add it after lock. I asked about it delaying my order and he said if I was matched with a truck that didn't have the spare they would send it later. I don't know why the Shop orders aren't afforded this same leeway.

Agreed. Go figure. That's Rivian math for ya.

Congrats! If I had access, I would have been tempted by that one as well. Letting go of your Christmas configuration (Red/Green), though? That would have been unique!
I have a second reservation I’m holding onto for when the max pack arrives. Don’t worry, Christmas is still coming
