Introducing the R1 Shop... Email Communication

Just chatted with CS. Doesn't look like I'll make the cut for the R1 shop at this stage.....still early 23. At this point, I still have both my Lightning and Rivian reservations. With my daughter turning 16 and wanting to buy my 2016 TLX, It's likely going to come down to who will deliver first for me. She's been working/saving for two years and want to reward that effort.

Option B could be to order a M3 while I'm waiting. With this being my entry point into BEVs, it may be a good opportunity to get the house set up for charging and get used to some of the nuances of driving an electric vehicle.

I feel for the reservation holders that have been waiting for years. First world problems I guess. I don't mind the wait itself, just the impact to other parts of life.

I don't understand why anything other than the pre-order date (and possibly place of delivery) impacts when a reservation holder gets invited to R1Shop. They list 'existing configuration' as one of the factors. When the purpose of R1Shop is to change your configuration why should the existing configuration matter.
I would really like to see communication from Rivian along the lines of 'all pre-orders before this date have been invited to R1Shop'.

RJ has said repeatedly that pre-order date now has less effect in delivery timing. He reiterated that at the virtual shareholder yesterday and implied a two tiered delivery system.

The video of the meeting should be out today so we can all parse his statements…

I wondering at what point does a 2022 Rivian R1T or R1S become a 2023?

Which one will be more valuable in the future? A 2022 Rivian R1T Adventure? Or a 2023 Rivian R1T Launch Edition?

What info were you able to find out? I got no indication on the shop.

I had previously changed from OC interior to BM interior..it didn't make a difference in my timing. Still Q4 2022.

I got through to CS today and I just got a generic answer saying that I will get an email on the updated timing....eventually. I will get an email with the updated timing if I'm due for delivery soon. When I asked if I'll get an email if I haven't moved, or if I moved back, they said once again that I would only get an email if I'm due for delivery soon but everyone will get an email.

To me that sounds like...um we don't know when you'll get your car. But we'll let you know when it's on it's way.

Ordered SEP 21.....by no means a early reservation holder, but have been maintaining some semblance of hope that I could win the RI1 lottery and get a truck this year.

That was my thought as well. 25k of R1Ts? I don’t think so. This company needs to get R1S out there for advertising sake and to bolster their stock.

On the last quarterly earnings call RJ was clear that a third of the forecast 25,000 vehicles Rivian hopes to produce in 2022 will be Amazon delivery vans, which suggests they were aiming for about 16,500 R1‘s to be produced this year.

Yeah there's also a call to lookup an inventoryOrder (and thus available inventory) but it seems Rivian has to issue one to your account.

I don't disagree with your core thought, but I would venture that the big impact for "current configuration" on invitation to the shop would be if you have an R1T or an R1S configured. I would imagine that would drive your invitation to the shop rather than if you chose blue or green paint. However, that's my logic and history has shown that Rivian and I operate on different planes of existence.

Personally, I would like it to not be based on R1S vs R1T so that I could have better knowledge of how things would change if I switched from the S to the T...

I look forward to the day when all of us pre-order holders can quit bitching about Rivian communication and production delays, and finally move on to far more productive bitching about build quality and infotainment bugs.
