  1. Bravo Rivian but now R1 is OLD.

Because this was the "R2 Reveal" event? Just as Tesla Model 3 did not kill Model S, I don't see R1 going away. I would expect a refresh with some R2 tech at some point but no need to announce now.
  2. R2 Reveal Livestream Watch Party - March 7 @ 10 am PST!! -- NOW!! 😳 👀

I feel the demand for the R1 series will drop further as people wait for the substantially cheaper R2. Yes, I am also an R1T owner.
  3. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

During my just concluded 30 day absence, the R1T was in the garage unplugged. It went from 75% to 50% battery charge so a little less than 1% a day. Contrast this to a year ago when I did almost the same test and the charge dropped to a precarious 5%, more than 2% a day. I commend Rivian on the...
  4. Problems problems, all these damn problems! Let's hear from those who've had little / no issues! 🗯️

I have about 18K miles on my R1T (VIN in the 8K range). No serious problems to report. Only service center visits were to address recall issues (which I think was more about validating rather than changing anything). One Mobile visit to replace a cargo cross bar. One outstanding issue is with...
  5. Updated Powered Tonneau Cover In Action! [Video]

That’s what I feel too. Not sure there’s any reason for me to seek out an upgrade since I have gotten familiar with the OG.
  6. Proximity unlock is flawless now

Interesting. I knew you could set up garage openers at different locations but didn't know that the other locations would be also treated as "home"
  7. Proximity unlock is flawless now

I like the "Lock only" option but why is it only "at home"? If I don't want proximity unlock for security or other reasons, I would definitely not want it outside my home. Secondly Rivian should allow more than one "home".
  8. Thermal images of my Rivian home charger

Hmm, isn't there a temperature gradient expected from the inside to the outside (like in my frying pan handle)? Context here is that my Rivian R1T charger has been giving me 'warm plug' warnings that I've reported on another thread. It feels warm to touch but not uncomfortably so - I would guess...
  9. Should you tip your PPF installer?

I "accidentally" payed a tip for my $2500 partial PPF. Was taken by surprise at the payment prompt and regretted it as soon as I left the shop for the reasons outlined by others
  10. Thermal images of my Rivian home charger

I am curious about my charger plug. Is it able to measure temperature through the plastic casing?
  11. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

Yes, it does seem like the throttling is on the truck side so the question is whether they are measuring ambient temperature or plug temperature. The display message suggests the latter. The structure and quality of the J1772 plug and socket could impact the temperature rise.
  12. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

The fast charger incident reported probably involves CCS DC charging. The connections involved are different from the J1772 but I expect both need to be monitored.
  13. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

That's what I think too. Very plausible. It would be expensive to replace a bunch of chargers - the installer cost would be higher than the product. Thinking in terms of Rivian's business, it seems a questionable idea to get into selling chargers in the first place, when there are so many...
  14. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

Actually the main connection to the house panel is often aluminum wire but you are correct that copper is used internally.
  15. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

This looks pretty scary. Glad the damage was contained to the charger. In my case, the wire was copper according to spec. Rivian incorrectly claimed it was aluminum from the photos (not sure how one can tell from the photos because if its done properly there's no metal visible)
  16. Rivian wall charger - disappointing

I have been overall very happy with my Rivian R1T and the way it is supported. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Rivian Wall Charger. I am sharing my experience so far in the hope that (a) Rivian is listening and (b) others considering the Rivian wall charger are suitably informed. I...
  17. Rivian R1T on the F1 Track Circuit of the Americas! 🏁 (with pro diver Blake Fuller)

Awesome to see the Rivian being driven by pros on a race track. Thanks for sharing this rare video.
  18. Rivian home charger fault 3 days in a row (and a PI request from Rivian)

I am seeing similar behavior in my home charging. Similar to @protamine , it worked flawlessly for months. Rivian says it is likely an issue with the Rivian Wall charger. At this point it is an open service request.
  19. Rivian Home Charger Fail

Hmm. I am seeing similar behavior with my Rivian charger. Worked perfectly for months and then for the last couple of weeks it stops charging intermittently. Seems to basically go to sleep on the job. Opening the mobile app or the Rivian door will often get it to restart. Obviously this is not...
  20. Completed wonderful 2 Week R1T Road Trip: WA-OR-CA

We had overnight stops in Ashland (OR), Crescent City, Fort Bragg, Sonoma, Redding, Coos Bay, Portland (OR). Definitely recommend the coast but it could get exhausting if you did it the whole way so I would plan around where you want to spend time first and then figure out the charger situation...
