After work last week—when it was 28°F outside—I took my dirty R1T to a self car wash (pressure washers with various ingredients). I jacked the truck up to Highest setting and in addition to cleaning the rest of the exterior I somewhat sprayed the underside, and sprayed inside the wheels and wheel wells. I then drove home (at High setting) and parked outside.
Overnight the temperatures dropped even farther below freezing. When I got into the truck in the morning, I tried to lower the suspension. It refused, and further refused to switch drive modes. It refused to go above 51 MPH, and also disabled several features (speed limit detection, forward collision, side vehicle detection). I tried rebooting the car: everything went back to normal, but as soon as I tried to lower the height, the same problem occurred. "Service vehicle to change drive modes."
I drove to my destination (which included a 65MPH section, where I had to put on my hazards and limp along in the right lane). 4 hours later—and still below freezing—same problem. No reboot fixed it. I reluctantly scheduled a service appointment.
Later that afternoon, the temps finally got above freezing. Got in the truck, it happily lowered itself and cleared all errors. Sub-freezing temps since that day have not caused any problems.
