Probably going to need to go to 275/55r20 or maybe 275/65r18 if the calipers allow it.

Really hoping the lighter vehicle allows for smaller calipers and thereby 18" wheels. If so, I'd absolutely throw 275/65/R18 K03s on some AW10 wheels.

I would think so but who knows. I fit 18” wheels on my Ioniq 5, wouldn’t expect R2 to be much heavier

I've been looking for a picture that shows the specific tire on the R2 show vehicle, but I can only see Goodyear, no other name. Maybe it's a one-off tire that Goodyear made for Rivian?

I will be shopping for some 18 inch aftermarket rims if I can find some that fit. It is my understanding the aftermarket rims for the R1 were hard to find due to the large brake calipers. I hope they offer a different rim in 18" so I don't have to worry about trying to find some rims that fit. I prefer black wheels but I may get some and powder coat to match. I would put some BFG tires on as well.

A Michelin ltx will get you a lot of places unless you're into mud.

If they’re going to continue marketing adventureous forever, there will be other rim size offerings so folks can mount some ATs or MTs. The 21s didn’t work for the R1 in this department, and doesn’t look like will either for the R2.

R3X has 19s on it with 255/55R19 tires, so if they share brakes you'll be able to size down at least to 19s.

Raise your hand if you wish you knew what people were referring to with the tire sizes and how you could intentionally change them out to effect performance? ??‍♂

Width of the tire in mm/ratio of the sidewall relative to the width/radius of the wheel.

265/75/R20 means a 265mm wide tire with a 198mm sidewall (265x.75) and a 20" wheel. 198mm + 198mm + 20" = approximately 35" diameter tires. Generally speaking, more sidewall is better for off-road performance and comfort, so if you have a limit on the overall diameter of the tire you'd rather have a smaller wheel and more sidewall.
