R1S lease details in coming weeks

After a recent test drive/meet your Rivian event, I was reached out to by a “salesperson”. I haven’t made a decision yet but asked about pricing options etc.

I also specifically asked about buying a “demo” vehicle and this was the response:

To take it with a pinch of salt, this is the same person who said they don’t have confirmation about the post purchase DM to PDM upgrade, after the recent post someone made here about it.

Seems like the next logical step. Then a certified pre-owned program once the leases start to end.

So does that mean you can take 7500 off the lease price in your fine print? Or does rivian not offer that type of discount at purchase?

Yes with a lease you get 7500 off of the capitalized cost.

This is a welcome development. With solid state batteries on the horizon, I would prefer to lease rather than to buy EVs. I don't want to risk massive depreciation when I finally sell the car.

I already have an order in for R1S dual motor. I would pull the trigger on a quad motor in the store if I could lease it.

I’ll roll my r1s launch until 10 yrs. Just what I’ve always done with vehicles. After -l10 yrs I’ve gotten everything I want out of it and if it sells for anything I am positive in my mind. For my so. I may very well do the Tesla lease for base model around 250-260 a month right now for 2 years. Can’t buy a solid car for that that’s new.

I'd love to keep my R1S for 8-10 years and probably will but just wish the cameras were better because they feel 10 years old as of now. I've always leased in the past and probably would've again if the R1S was offering a lease day 1. Early pricing and the IRA rebate made purchasing more palatable.

Nah, for me, I just want to straight up buy it out of the lease on the second month, but get the full 7500 whereas I can't do that with a straight purchase.

That seems kind of too soon, figured they wait till later in 2024 when they catch up more on R1S preorders like they did for R1T.

That way they don’t tick off preorders who are still waiting a year or two later with ppl who can just go lease one.

The way they produce cars is they have a min production quantity they must run for each color. So if you have leftover in the store then what else should they do. I think it makes sense they leases stock inventory.

Offering leasing is a plus for their customers, gives them an option to get the tax credit. If demand isn’t a problem then they can just offer poor lease rates.

Now they just need to add leasing to more states.

Still quite a few quad motors in the R1S shop, so pretty much. Probably a lot of dual motor orders now.
