My R1S has some definite wind noise above 60 - louder than our Tesla Model Y for sure. One thing I've noticed is that it's actually quieter on the passenger side than the driver's. The car has so many seals that I'm surprised it is this loud. One thing I did find is that my window gasket at the bottom is sitting differently on the two sides. Driver's side is almost pushed backwards half a cm or so, so there is a small gap at the front where the sliding window meets the small triangle. Doing some experimenting here but wanted to also see if others have noticed any similar discrepancies.

Side note: Yes, I realize that service should be fixing this stuff. My appointment isn't til end of October, and finding this stuff is almost a 'hobby' from the early Tesla days...

Passenger's side - note how it's flush

Back parts of the windows are even more obvious, driver's side:

Compare top edge of your door from driver side to passenger side. If that edge protrudes past the A-pillar outside trim cover (black on an R1S), then that could be the cause of the problem. On our R1S I took ot in for a front fender misalignment issue. They resolved it by moving the fender in and moving the doors out, causing terrible wind noise on previously silent car.

This was post fix, causing the wind noise.

This looks like my R1T. Also have similar issue with wind noise. Also noisier than our Model Y by a wide margin with whistling added above 50mph. I’ve tried taping up quarter windows and top trim. Haven’t tried checking those seals. Will see if I can reduce wind noise by taping those areas up.

The whistling might be the recirculation vent being closed. If I open mine, it stops whistling. I have it on the list for my service appointment next month. Otherwise, I think having the panoramic roof causes a lot of the noise. A conventional roof with insulation would probably have reduced the noise significantly or even a conventional panoramic moonroof. I have also noticed that the vehicle seems to have significant buffeting based on driving with all the windows open at highway speeds. All that unstable wind on the windows must be contributing to noise as well.

I tried switching between circulation modes and even turning off AC, it did not resolve the whistling.

That stinks. The one thing I'll mention is that the recirculation tends to have a mind of its own and takes a few seconds before the vent actually opens. It also turns back on by itself. Hope they figure out the issue.

I had this issue wien my r1t was delivered in February. A mobile tech was dispatched and 2 window channels were replaced. A huge difference. I did my own tests by using my power washer and noted where the water was entering.
