One thing we’ve noticed after talking with owners for a few years now is that many trucks end up doing things their owners didn’t originally plan for.

We’ve heard stories like:
  • Rock crawling that started as a dirt road detour
  • Unexpected towing duties after selling an ICE truck
  • Long road trips that replaced a second vehicle
  • Trail runs that became more frequent than expected
It seems like once people get comfortable with what the truck can do, they start pushing it further.

We’ve definitely seen that ourselves.

Curious where your Rivian has surprised you in terms of capability.

Passing slowpokes on backroads. I was always hesitant to pass folks in my old Ram but the quad Rivians crazy, instant acceleration makes overtaking on two lanes so easy

The traction control system is definitely better than I expected for offroad. This on a DM Enduro on 22 Sports. Coming from some locking diff Toyotas, the Rivian does really well and is perfectly adequate for any bad dirt road you'd dare take an expensive vehicle on. Start trying to cross rock crawling trails and there'll be heartache though; ie Gold Spike, Kane Creek or the Rubicon, or Dusy Ershim.

Towing is awesome. Pretty much don't feel our 4K travel trailer behind it and are lucky the aero design allows 250miles of towing range. Max pack range means DC charging is a rare stop.

Dry storage.

Frunk + Gear tunnel means that I can take a family of 4 and a 50lb lab mix on a weekend trip and everything we need is in dry storage WITHOUT a tonneau cover. Quite remarkable for this shape/size/class of vehicle.

Towing. I don't max the weight or pull long distances but I can put 8000 lbs on my flatbed trailer and you literally cannot feel any drag from the weight. I knew about fast acceleration, etc. but this surprised me.

Turning radius. I was surprised such a large vehicle can turn so sharply.

Road rallying! I have a Gen 1 Quad. With 4 motor torque vectoring in sport mode lowest suspension set to firm, this SUV handles great at the limit. Great tactile feedback. I can push it hard.

Frunk keeps stinky food from stinking up the car. Wish it was a more exciting answer, but it is what it is.
