Has anyone found a tire that works for the 21” rims beside the OEM? Could you buy different rims to allow more tire options?

this is why a lot of people are going with the 20” wheels, not for the A/T’s but to have tire options. There’s tons of LT rated tires out there for 20 inch wheels.

Give it a chance and the 21's will start to appear.

Michelin 275/50/R21 would work size wise. Load is a little less than the Pirelli's and I'm not sure what the range hit would be.

Has anyone tried these Michelin Defenders?
Seem to be exact spec for Rivian... https://www.pepboys.com/michelin-defender-ltx-m-s-2/tires/2795759
That's interesting, there has been a lot of debate about whether that tire would be available in that size with conflicting information coming from various sources. If it is available, it's a game changer for sure. Even though it costs about the same as the factory tires, getting 2-3x the tread life would make a massive difference.

Interesting that it's on a reputable site like Pep Boys vs the other random websites... Michelin's website has no indiction of that tire but I chatted with them a while back and they said it's in the development stage. Someone should try to buy the tires from Pep Boys!

I have R1T on order with 21s and have been getting nervous reading everyone's horror stories about their sub 10000 mile wear life on the tires. Unique size takes awhile to build demand and run through development. I expect more and more options will start hitting the market. Glad to see a second one available already.

I'm at 14k miles with over half the tread left and I drive like an asshole.

Im going to end up squeezing a little over 25k out of mine, so it's not as bad as some have made it out to be. Just don't drive around in conserve unless you absolutely need it on a road trip and you should get 20k.

looking up the part number online, there are many sites that have them listed. Most it seems say December '23 ship date.

Hopefully this is just a start. We had Michelin Cross Climate 2 on my wife’s XC90 and they were fantastic all weather tires.

Almost 9k miles. 9/32 on rear and 8/32 on front 21s. Think new is 10/32.

If anyone burning through tires, it’s because of how they are driving

I'm just glad that the 21" Michelin Defender LTX are or will soon be available.
