Cybertrucks in the wild - quick comment

We have a Cybertuck in Cary, NC. My wife (who doesn't care about EV's or Cars in general) said, out loud, "What the actual fuck is that hideous thing" in front of our 3 year old daughter. She has never cursed in front of her before.... Personally, I thought it was horrible. from the front it...

Tri-Motor and Premium Trim added to R1 VIN database

If Rivian can release an Entry R1T DM (or PDM) with Large Pack (I tow a boat, and I'm guessing the new battery pack will mimic the new/larger R2 cells) in the low $70K I'm in. I will buy right away.

Tri-Motor and Premium Trim added to R1 VIN database

Right you are! I completely missed the "entry" listed in row 8. Please ignore me and carry on.

Removed for forgetting how to read a simple table.

2023 R1S trade-in data point The Count found interesting

I'm more confused by the $6400 warranty price tag on the Ineos. I've never seen that before, is it a Euro thing?

    Chances for discounted pricing?

I would love if Rivian decreased pricing, but I hope they don't. I think what Tesla did was skeazy, to put it nicely. Randomly reducing pricing on a vehicle model depreciates the model/trim and has a similar impact on buyers confidence. A better option would be to offer a cheaper trim model...

    Failed towing experience

This right here is the primary reasoning for my previous post. The other items that Zoidz mentioned can be avoided with proper brakes, weight of tow vehicle, staying within towing recommendations, trailering skills, proper towing connections (WDH if needed), etc. BUT, there's no avoiding the...

    Failed towing experience

As someone that has been towing boats for 20 years, be careful towing at that speed. Some states even have strict 55mph towing laws in place. When I tow on the highway I do not go beyond 70mph, typically keeping it in the 65mph range.

    Toyota EPU EV Truck Concept

If they use cost effective LFP batteries so even an idiot can use it, and, it can get close to 250 miles of range, and, they keep the cost around $40k, they wonā€™t be able to build these fast enough.

Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference

Just saying All Season tires have weaker sidewalls is a broad statement by those groups. Yes, typically AS tires have weaker sidewalls because they are either P or SL rated with fewer plies. Companies do make E rated AS tires that can easily handle the weight of the Rivian and other 3/4 ton trucks.

Are you guys watching this? EV's in decline!

Declining EV sales is partly due to the fact that affluent and/or techy buyers are old news. The best selling vehicle in America is the F-150 largely due to the value. Buyers get a full size truck for $40-50k with decent amenities, a good range of performance options, and fuel economy. No EV...

R1T v Cybertruck side by side real life photos

The CT looks like shit. Why did Tesla not just take the Model Y/3 design language and build a truck? It would have sold like crazy. This is just going to be purchased by the Musk fanboys.

Headline: FORD SAYS ELECTRIC F-150 LIGHTNING SALES FELL 45.8% IN 3Q SALES

The Flash trim is just an XLT extended range with the bigger screen. *edit* to be clear, I think the Lightning is the nearly the perfect truck to sway the EV holdouts. Itā€™s a powerful EV truck that isnā€™t too polarizing and tech forward. The R1T is the better vehicle (Iā€™ve driven both now), but...

Headline: FORD SAYS ELECTRIC F-150 LIGHTNING SALES FELL 45.8% IN 3Q SALES

Dwindling sales has nothing to do with high interest rates and predatory dealerships though right? Every Lightning I've seen remotely close to me is a standard range with a $10-20K ADM. Maybe this will light the fire under Ford to take action against dealers with ADM's.

    Input on 14-50 outlet install

I understand what youā€™re saying, but 240v plugs at camp sites get a lot of use over many years.

    Input on 14-50 outlet install

This is a timely post, Iā€™m in a similar situation with my in-laws beach house (although I donā€™t have a Rivian/EV right now). Since I tow a 21ā€™ boat, and park the boat/trailer in front of the garage, it would make it difficult for a charger in the garage to reach. Iā€™ll get a 14-50 plug mounted to...

    So, No Non-Perf Dual R1T's until 2024?

In the recent journalist invite to Normal I believe it was reported that, while you couldn't unlock via a post purchase, it was all just software. Could be wrong but if it's just software that would simplifying production.

    New R1S bricked

Land Rover, doesn't really have a reputation for reliability, I wouldn't compare the Rivian to them. You mention capability a couple times, why is that an indicator of complexity? I would argue a F150 Raptor is just as capable, yet doesn't stop in the middle of the street unless something...

    New R1S bricked

You're thinking about this from a technological stand point, I'm talking from an Owner stand point. Right now you don't own your vehicle, Rivian has complete control over it, you have to trust them. As far as your analogy, that's just one of the many reasons I can't stand the trend of modern...
