Weirdly random "aggressive" braking assist?

First let me clarify - by aggressive I don't mean slamming on the brakes, I just mean noticeably more "aggressive" or perhaps "eager" than normal for WHEN they are applied.

After the update that added extra braking assist for when regen is limited, I have noticed at least 2-3 times where my R1S will apply friction braking well before my foot is off the pedal and lurch to a stop. It's always already at low speed (2-3mph) but it STOPS. There's no "coast" like you typically get with a full lift-off - at least maybe I should quantify that that is my personal one-pedal experience - when coming to a stop, it's a gradual lift-off, and then at the end my foot is fully off the pedal, there is a very small "coast" to a stop and then friction brakes grab as the vehicle shifts into H(old). That's how it's always worked and it achieves very gentle, smooth, stops.

But there have now been a few times, one just yesterday, that the friction brakes are actively engaging to stop the vehicle before my foot is off the pedal, I can't really look, but I'd wager somewhere around 1-1.5" depressed still which is typically enough to "creep" the vehicle. It just STOPS. I also notice that it feels like the brakes do not release as quickly as they should either, like there's a lurch when starting as if the brakes are holding during that same 1-1.5" of pedal travel and then suddenly release, you can hear and feel it.

I know there was something about some accelerator pedals being defective/faulty and that they tried to do something in software to fix that (around too much coasting before hold?) and I wonder if I have a bad pedal and when it "acts up" this is how the software is dealing with it. Can anyone else confirm if they have had this behavior, or does anyone know how to verify if you have VIN that might have a defective pedal? I'd be willing to pay service to replace it if this is how the software fix works. It's really jarring when it kicks in, and it just stops unexpectedly - Rivians seem to get rear-ended MORE than enough WITHOUT any unexpected braking, I don't want to increase my odds for it, or for tapping someone else when I THINK it's going to stop, and suddenly decides to coast an extra 5 ft.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I had a couple of cases like that and it seems to me that both were in early light conditions and that the the light or shadow across the front camera caused it to think that there was something in my path. It braked hard and then whent the light changed, it released the brakes. Mayb something is blocking the front camera

Happened again today, and then cleared up on the same drive. I think I just need to open a ticket and see what service thinks about it. I'm not sure what else to do. It's very random and very hard to reproduce, but maybe if I have one of the "bad" pedals, they can just swap that and then we see what happens. I have no idea, but the "not knowing" when this is going to randomly kick in and jolt every time you stop and start is actually annoying, and potentially moderately dangerous so I think I need to have service take a look, it wasn't a random one and done, this is about the 5th-6th time now. It's a "thing" at this point

What's your build date? Rivian replaced my pedal during another service appointment since the recall was issued, I didn't have to even mention it. Guessing since you have a 2023 in your profile that your vehicle isn't affected.

I would have to go look again but I think it's around June/July 2023 so yeah, seemingly not affected by that. But given the odd behavior, I still think I'm going to have them take a look at it, and see what, if anything, comes back. Already on a road trip through this weekend, so I'll see how that goes,I doubt I'll be getting in within the next 4-5 weeks anyway
