Recently updated to 2024.27.30 and found that vampire drain IS a thing now. I heard Rivian used to have a lot of vampire drain but I never really encountered it until I updated it to 2024.27.30 on Sunday.

battery was 87%/246mi at 11am 8/18 Sunday (time after update), it's 83%/233mi at 4am 8/20 Tuesday, and now it 82%/229mi at 9am on Wednesday (I didn't drive the car in between, it just sits in my garage)

I did the math
  • pre-update if no driving, it consume ~0.35% per day
  • post-update it consume ~1.4% per day (exact 3 days now)
Did anyone encounter the same thing? also how did people handle this vampire drain? is there any workaround?
  • Motion cam is off at home
  • Lock only at home (no unlock)
  • no seat belt buckled
  • I checked app probably only three times in the past day.

Near zero drain before on my Gen1 R1T but pretty significant now post update. I keep getting loss of internet signal, but go for a short drive and no issue with connectivity. AT&T is horrible here so wondering if it is sucking battery up because constantly trying to connect to the world. How would I determine this, is there a battery usage chart somewhere showing what is powering what?

Dare to dream that something like that existed :(

3 yrs in and we don't even have a wiring diagram. Want to laugh? Look in the owners manual for the word "fuse".. 444 pages and they don't even mention fuses.

Your vampire drain looks about the same as that of my R1S. Mine is on 2024.27.01,
Typical daily drains over last 7 days are -4 miles/-1%, -3 miles/0%, -3 miles/-2%, -4 miles/-1%, -3 miles/-1%. On some odd days, it may be higher. Have even shut off power and put it on camp mode. Have not found a way to kill the app; it keeps restarting automatically.

One of my other 2 EVs sleeps like a baby; the other one has wild drain swings from a mile or two a day to as much as 6 or 7 miles just sitting in garage, reasons unknown. It seems that my R1S drain is not that unusual compared to the others.

If somebody has found a way to kill the Rivian app dead when not in use, please let me know.

Vampire drain is new to me. Teslas really suffer from it. Rivian is a little better. I had 0 drain on my LEAF, Bolt, and EV9. I could literally park the Bolt at 55%, leave for 2 weeks, and come back with it at 55%. But, it also wasn’t as connected as other cars.
