From the manual: " The Trailer Sway Control is always on when in Towing Mode."

OK, so how does this work? I mean how does the truck know what the trailer is doing?
Curious about the plus/minus capabilities/limitations.
About to get my 1st trailer and have read that even light trailers can have sway problems. There are lots of add on solutions out there (see below), just don't know what I ought to be thinking about....add something like this?

Yaw sensor can detect when the truck is being pulled around by the hitch. There's only so much they can do to combat it, having a physical anti-sway device is always going to be better.

Can't speak to the Rivian, but my Lexus GX460 has sway assist and it basically detects once trailer sway reaches certain thresholds (no idea what those are or exactly how it is detected - presumably through some of the built-in radar sensors) and, once those conditions are met, it triggers and automated combination of soft break touches mixed with small touches of acceleration to stabilize it.

I would suspect the Rivian system works similarly and is likely more effective since torque can be applied independent to each tire, but no first hand experience on that and agree that a physical solution would definitely add some enhanced stability.
