Trade-In Process / Experience?

I am very curious to see how close Rivian's actual trade in offers will be to www.kbb.com trade-in values as KBB is owned by Cox Automotive which is the company handling the trade-ins for Rivian. Also curious if everything will be "good" or if they will actually evaluate the level of condition. Hopefully we will get some posts from real world examples of trade-ins to Rivian/Cox Automotive.

If they match KBB's trade in price for my car I would probably just trade it in. As of right now the KBB trade-in price is only $3k lower than the cheaper listings on cars.com for my car (similar year, similar miles, same options). With the tax offset for the R1T purchase, it really wouldn't be worth my effort to try to sell my car myself if I'm only selling it for $3k more.

Things could change by delivery time, but honestly I'm hoping to go the easier route and just trade-in.

I'm just going to use Carvana or Vroom to pick up my Model Y a few weeks before delivery. You usually get more money doing it that way than trading in.

Well that means they are going to low ball you then. I tried to do a instant cash offer from kbb and it was $10k less then their quoted kbb trade in value in good condition.
