Will Rivian sell just the wheels/rims and no tires? Website says “wheel and tire set”. I am sure they’d be happy to take the tires off for you - but not for a discount. My point is, if you don’t already have the 20s, seems like you should get the set from Rivian then wait for those tires to need to be replaced or you’ll spend even more money to get rid of the Rivian Pirellis and get some other brand.

To clarify: Rivian 21” has a 33” diameter tire. Rivian 20” has a 34” diameter. These are the “stock” Pirellis.
Try talking to the service folks, they quoted me ~3k pre-tax for the plain 20" wheels + TPMS + center cap. I had read about others getting quoted closer to 2.2-2.5k before, but maybe that was without the other bits. Haven't picked up yet as I just tacked it on to an existing service appointment, but presumably they'll go through with the signed work order.

Can you just order them through Rivian's gear shop or are there special steps to go through?
Call the hotline. They will tell you the price or have the SC call you back. They will schedule a service appointment for the pickup. It'll b an insane amount of time out but give it three days and call back multiple times. You just have to remind them multiple times you're not looking for any installation. Show up to the SC after a few days if no one is calling you back and say you're there to pick up your wheels-- they will most definitely help you out in spite of it not being your appointment day since it's just a parts order. Don't forget to oder the TPMS as well.

Are you going to run these in the winter?
TBD. I'd like to get another set of wheels (was thinking the Ram wheels) with winter tires instead. The ATs gave me a scare last winter sliding on a snowy highway entrance ramp, I'm not sure if AS would've been better or worse.

Did this today and you're right. They will sell the rims by themselves. It was like 2300 bucks which I thought was reasonable for the 20" darks. I do like the 22's performance wise but I like the 20's have a ton of different tires available for them if I run into an issue. Plus saying I get 16K miles out of my current set which is what it's looking like if I can get those Defender tires and they last even twice as long I'd be paid for rim wise in tire changes.

If I keep the truck another 3 years getting the 20's is a better deal. Keep it another 2 and it's a wash financially. The other thing throwing the wrench in the works is my wife's i4 will be here late this year/ early next year and we tricked that thing out so I'm going to want to drive it some too. Especially for our downtown errands/ places with tight parking that i4 M50 will be a much better choice. Even for road trips if it's just the two of us we will probably take the BMW because it comes with 2 years free electrify America charging.

If we are taking our son or taking a bunch of stuff with us, we will take the Rivian as there simply is more room and it's a great road tripping vehicle. Road tripping in a pickup is probably the easiest time I've had of covering lots of miles in a day. The extra room in it makes for a much nicer experience.

I think I am possibly overthinking this whole thing a bit too much. This amount of money doesn't matter a ton to me either way, and truthfully I would prefer a blacked out wheel but it's not make or break for me. I think this is one of those situations where there isn't a super clear answer.

$2300 is a fair price for those wheels. The dark 20s and a manual tonneau were the only options I added to mine. They will look great on your red T!

Could I still use my spare in an emergency type situation?

Opinions from you guys would be much appreciated.
I'd put any oddball diameter tire on the rear and run in conserve while getting your other tire fixed/replaced.

I went from 21s to 20s in April and ended up just buying a throwaway rim and tire from Discount to keep as a spare since the appearance wasn't really a concern.

I would not go with a 275/50 sidewall living where I do. I noticed an immediate and significant improvement in smoothness going to the 275/65 on the 20s. It is clear (to me) that that tire geometry is what Rivian actually wanted to run with, but compromises were made in the name of range and probably satisfying the bean counters at Pirelli.

Just for the wheels? ?
For the darks. It seemed off and it was a less than informed person who said their system often wouldn’t even let them get pricing… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LOL they quoted me $3,700...
I think it is 4,300 with tires…so that is very high for Rims/TPMS only. I would call again as you might have gotten bad info (hopefully)
