Rivian R1T R1S They hit me in my driveway resulting in $21,195.95 repair bill PXL_20220906_203536355
9/6/22 : 4 months of trying my hardest to protect my vehicle from crazy south florida drivers and in my own driveway is where i end up getting hit. so let's find out how good the Rivian certified collision centers are.

update 9/7/22 : Spoke with State farm (other guys insurance, the at-fault guy) they were very pushy trying to get me to go to one of their collision centers, I said no way, I want a certified Rivian center. I ended up going to Collision Care Xpress, In Pompano Beach, FL. While i was there they were working on 2 other Rivians (this is the Collision center the Rivian Miami SC is using) people were nice and very friendly, told me about 2 weeks wait on the parts and 2-3 weeks repair time, They said more than likely entire driver side will be replaced, not sure from where to where this would be. They said Rivian will go over the photos and will advise on the repair.

update 9/12/22 : So i got the quote from the Collision center, They quoted the repair at $ 21,195.95 , I really dont know much about body work and repairs, but I want to hear peoples opinion on this. They are still awaiting to hear back from State Farm, I assume they negotiate on pricing and then they go from there.

stay tuned for further updates.

Sorry that happened.
Hate to see that type of repair cost figure. Just going to drive up the insurance cost of these vehicles as insurance companies figure out how expensive they're going to be to repair.

Tesla was the same way. After about 1-2 years, Mercury jacked up my premiums by nearly 100% because Tesla's cost to repair was so high.

Best of luck in getting it fixed quickly and painlessly.

Yeah that is a big panel, not surprised it’s an expensive repair. Ultimately if we see a lot of these type of repairs that is going to lead to higher insurance rates for us.

USAA was the same with me with my door and their appraisal was amateur hour levels of bad, but I was similarly emphatic about going with a Rivian certified shop. I drop it off Thursday with them and it'll likely be 3-4 weeks to get the damage fixed. They are the shop that does all the work for the ATL service center and said they've done a lot of Rivians now (likely transport damage).

My quote was $4,500 for the door (USAA was $1,000 LOL) so I guess I'm fortunate that nearly all the damage was to do the door and not the side panel because $21,000 sounds NUTS. Of the $4,500 I was quoted the vast majority is labor.

Sorry to hear. Not shocked at the price.

2.5 months waiting on parts and the repair. The price was over $10k.

That's obscene. I remember joking my spouse when we got her Model X, "If you're going to hit something, you better total the car or we'll be waiting six months for the repair and it will cost as much as a year in college. " We recently had our i3 damaged by a towing company and the repair bill for the scratches was $7k. I did a full spit take when the collision center told me the estimate.

Sounds like Rivian isn't making repair panels yet. They should eventually have smaller repair pieces for things like this, but it's going to be really hard to get a smooth transition.

The repair invoice was hysterical. The body shop invoiced the insurance company for every screw, washer, clip, fastener, etc. They told me that’s the norm.

Why does the panel need to be replaced. Couldn't they hammer it out?

Or Bondo...

I'm assuming the issue is that it is an Aluminum panel.

$22K? That's like 20% of MSRP (current). If you get into accidents like this 5 times over the life of the vehicle, that's like paying for a new one!
