Tomorrow is my trip Phoenix to Tahoe, decided to leave at 4am. Tropical storm Hilary will be chasing me. Wish me luck!

You may be in for a wild ride. But good chance you’ll have a tailwind - ha!

Water is the killer in these types of storms.

Watch out for flash floods specially in the desert areas.

Winds of a tropical storm aren't terrible, essentially strong t storm winds.

Right now the reports are that the heavy rains will hit SoCal at 3pm. So I should be ahead of that. Last summer I got caught in a dust storm with 50mph winds in my Mach E, ended up having to pull over and shut off the lights. There were a few idiot, including some semis, that kept going in the dust.

Probably should consider just driving in forward gear?

I have a feeling the reports are overhyped. We’ll still get dumped on but I don’t think it will be as bad as it’s been portrayed. The low lands might have problems, bit that’s the case even in lesser SoCal “storms”.

If you drive the entire route in reverse I think the storm actually moves back out to sea? ?

You might be the first forum member to test the 42" depth capability....

I'm being brought in on my day off to be on standby for this Storm of the Century!!! I have a loaner R1T, so I might test it myself?

As many people are aware, the Count and Countess are NWS certified severe weather trackers (SKYWARN) who, when called upon by a sense of community service, self-activate to monitor storm development and progress around their environs. I hope the OP has similar training if he plans to engage in challenging Mother Nature.
