first ones out there to get one, so I’d think part of the appeal of getting a R1T or S are the bragging rights and therefore answer questions ?

Hey fellow (former) Rav 4 EV'r. I'll be selling mine in next couple of months - but I have always loved the sleeper that it is. I love seeing their faces when I say yeah - it's a Tesla Model S with a Toyota body on top of it.

Then there's the occasional 0-60 drag race and the confused looks from them after.

This conversation reminds me of a game that I came up with this weekend. It's called "Woman in a Bikini or Rivian" and you get a video of middle aged men doing a neck breaking head turn and stare. The point of the game is to determine if he is staring at a woman in a bikini or a Rivian.

The trick to the game is, it's always a Rivian.

I got you but it comes with the territory. No one forces you to even speak to these interested people. It’s like being a rockstar without wanting to be bothered by the fans.
Reminds me of when I lived in NYC, after a while you just don’t see other people.

Haha nice. Yes I had some who wouldn’t believe me so I had to pop the panels in the trunk to show them the tesla components.

Yeah - I've replaced the onboard computer myself once - that was fun. Had a guy (on face book rav 4 ev group) remote into my network from Ukraine and reprogram the new computer I got off ebay and wahla it worked. He somehow had the Tesla software to do it. Toyota wanted over 2k to do the work and I got it done for 200.

I'm used to driving a vehicle from a manufacturer that nobody knows about, for the past six years now. If you're an ass like me, you'll quickly get tired of answering the same question over and over, and just make stuff up. "It's the new Camaro truck", or something like that. It's fun watching the wheels turning in their head and then get stuck.

For me, the “what is it” & “who makes it”, is always followed with “how much does it cost”. And then somehow they’re trying to make me feel bad that it was $80k…….. “wow, that’s a lot”.

I recommend a comically oversized sign on a stick that says “it’s a Rivian” on both sides and when they ask the second time, you dramatically rotate it.

That will just invite other questions. Such as “So it’s a Tesla Rivian”? Or “So it‘s a Rivian Cybertruck”?

Honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of parking in public lots with it. It's a Meow game of How Many Times Can I Say Just "Rivian" before they stop asking questions?

By me, in Illinois at least, people seem to know who Rivian is. Many people have never seen one personally and ask how I like it and such.

Weirdest encounter so far, picking up lou malnatis pizza and a guy in a karate gi runs up and was super excited to see the truck in person.
