We all have to make decisions that are best for our situation today.
We called on a couple old ICE trucks last year but the market was nuts so we got a used utility trailer that we could tow with the Suzuki instead. That along with the eGolf has gotten us through to now and we take delivery next week!
The eGolf will continue to be the grocery getter; it gets 4.4 m/kWh or twice the efficiency of the T. Also can't wait for everything everyone else loves about the supertruck, like not worrying about range with heat on in the winter or holding 70 on the highway.

It will be a great daily driver. Maybe not as fun as some but more practical.
I’ve had a 3P, YP and have a S Plaid. The charging network is worry free and a station is always near by. Low range anxiety. Efficiency is very good on Teslas, but the EPA and range numbers are way overstated, as compared to Rivian. I rarely get the range predicted; only in summer when it’s above 70. Build quality is better on the 3/Y line, due to high volume production. Now, when I step out into the garage, I largely walk past the Plaid and hop into the R1T. That says something.

Similar to the Ford Lightning trying to flip an R1T is not a profit making process anymore. Resale prices have started to level off.
Totally dependent on area. If you pay no sales taxes like I did the ability to resale at a profit is still easy. At current market prices I’m still sitting at a $15k profit margin.

Everyone has to do what they think is best for their individual situation. Maybe when your order finally comes up you fall in love with it and can figure out how to keep it if you want. Best of luck to you!

... We do have a ski trip planned for March this year and are still debating whether we trust the charging infrastructure on I70 to Denver enough to take the Rivian.
Lots of L2 charging opportunities when you get to the ski hill. Presidents holiday weekend I saw five R1Ts, two in Winter Park, CO (1 with CA plates) and one on the mountain corridor of i70 with IL plates. If you take the Rivian, watch out for gravel on the roads and potential for paint/glass damage.

Cool to see more rental guests at my mountain condo building L1 charging.

Having owned both Model 3 an Y, in my opinion its a fun car. Other than the fact that its was chore to wrap my 6-4 frame into the seats, it was a blast to drive. Much prefer that to the Model Y, which I find boring, but don’t tell that to my wife.

And donā€˜t feel bad about your decision. While waiting for my R1T, I was minutes away from purchasing a Ford Ranger to do my truck runs. You should check out the Hyundai Santa Cruz. It’s a nifty little truck, if you can afford it and should be easy to unload if/when you decide to get a Rivian.
I tried to test drive a M3 and I literally couldn't get my 6'5 frame in the drivers seat without feeling like I'd lose a limb to poor circulation.

The Model Y is much more forgiving for us Sasquatches.

Meanwhile - to the original poster - I understand your pain my friend. As long as you are using the truck sparingly - for the kinds of things that it is intended for - you are still getting the benefit of an electric for daily driving which should help your pocket book and the environment so win-win.

No more anger for me toward Rivian, but after a long wait and the fact that they do not have a good plan to deliver vehicles in my area, I have decided to get a Model 3 and an inexpensive ICE truck for hardware store and hunting trips.... I am comfortable with this and I am not mad at Rivian.... Here is why I think it is the right decision for me; note that I am not saying it is right for everyone....

1- The M3 will cost <$40K since I will get it in time to qualify for the full tax credit.. I will be a truck for about $10K so even with both I will be at <$50K compared to $75K for the Rivian
2- The operating cost for a daily driver will be much less.
3- The charging network is awesome... My wife already has a model Y
4- Tesla is stable and established... I tend to keep vehicle a long time so long term viability is important...

Sounds like a good plan.

There's plenty of superchargers around, so even if some ahole is blocking a couple stalls it's not the end of the world unlike a visit to a CCS.

It would be great if Tesla came out with an ordinary pickup instead of some stainless steel weirdo looking thing that barely functions as a pickup.

Keeping out for now. Honestly as much as I hate when others do this, I might flip it if the market is right.
Not announcing departure per se but this is a discussion board to discuss rivian related issues. Specifically this is the competition forum.
Damn, and I thought I'd just met the most altruistic Rivian customer ever!

We can swap places. I just sold my Model 3 for my impending R1T and couldn’t be happier! The M3 is a great car but too small for the needs of our family and the Y doesn’t do it for me. Plus they are a dime a dozen on the roads today…

Yeah I was going to mention this as well. OP might just hang in there a bit longer, I don’t think it’s far off.

I have a X Plaid that I’ll likely get rid of for the new 3 now that I have my R1T. Tesla is hard to beat on efficiency and charging network. But I’m digging the R1 a lot, so it may be the best if both worlds with a 3 and R1

I can sympathize. Researching a trip to the mountains just now and according to PlugShare, the entire EA station in Frisco CO is down. Not only that some of the spots have had snow plowed into them apparently. Yet, according to EA that station is just fine . We also see a number of ChargePoint DCFCs in the area falling into disrepair for months, probably on their way to being abandoned.

Edited to add:
I’m sticking with the Rivian though, it’s been absolutely great. We need to demand better service from the DCFC providers and hold their feet to the fire on meeting basic functionality. I also think this community should put pressure on Rivian about RAN buildout.

that said, I like the efficiency of the M3. Would consider it as a replacement for the i3.
