I watched a few YouTube videos and some folks mentioned that full self drive is in works and even the current deliveries will get that update in future if they have launch edition . Is that correct ?

IF you want the FSD type self driving, then you need to wait for the R2 with the Lidar sensors. The current model will not get an upgrade via software. It would need the hardware.

Don't spread fake information.....either do some research or don't answer....but your statement is false

Does the Autonomy+ that comes with the Launch Edition cover all these upgrades in "self-driving", or is there going to be a higher level tier that you'll have to subscribe to when it becomes fully "point-to-point"?

RJ said in all these recent R2 videos the current setup can do point to point L2, same as Tesla currently. The Gen3 hardware with RAP1 and LIDAR will be needed for L3 aka eyes off.

Do what you wish with this information.

I think the confusion stems from the OP's use of FSD. Like the rest of the industry, Rivian does not use Tesla made-up nonsense marketing language like FSD (Supervised) aka "Tesla Assisted Driving" in China. Rivian follows the standard SAE nomenclature. So...

1) If by FSD you mean the Tesla HW3 / HW4 Level 2 eyes-on, hands on, driver must be ready at all times to take over immediately supervised system that does not have sufficient hardware capability to ever become more than that then.... the Launch Edition already has all the hardware to handle that and then some.

2) If by FSD you mean the future promised L3 and L4 eyes off system then the RAP1/Lidar version is required.
