They certainly need to expand in the PNW. I was on the phone with service the other day (they called me) regarding my balance, low speed tock issues.

He told me they wanted to schedule service as they had a repair plan in place then he looked and said neither Portland or Bellevue had any availability this year...

They're going to need to try a lot harder and expand a lot more if they're getting booked out 3+ months in advance. If it's not like that at every service center yet, then it soon will be at the rate that they're delivering vehicles.

Compared with a lot of the obstacles that they're facing (e.g. supply shortages, transport bottlenecks, software growing pains, etc.), I'd think building/buying some garages and hiring technicians would be pretty quick and easy.

I won't copy paste the article, but it's worth pointing out that the new space is about 6x larger than the Bellevue SC. The article was unclear about a March 2023 timeframe for availability, but discussed active permitting efforts which I presume to relate mostly to the massive electric infrastructure needs that EV SCs typically have.
Maybe March is when Rivian gets the keys, but who knows when it will be operational.

Agreed. Hiring the technicians might be the sticky part.

The couple times I’ve been to the Bellevue SC I’ve always seen a ton of R1’s waiting for delivery. I have also been seeing more and more on the road so I’m not surprised at the demand for another service center. I can’t read the article (paywall), where is the location of the new SC?
