What info were you able to find out? I got no indication on the shop.

I had previously changed from OC interior to BM interior..it didn't make a difference in my timing. Still Q4 2022.

I got through to CS today and I just got a generic answer saying that I will get an email on the updated timing....eventually. I will get an email with the updated timing if I'm due for delivery soon. When I asked if I'll get an email if I haven't moved, or if I moved back, they said once again that I would only get an email if I'm due for delivery soon but everyone will get an email.

To me that sounds like...um we don't know when you'll get your car. But we'll let you know when it's on it's way.
I asked CS how the notification will work for the R1 Shop, as I want to know one way or another if I'll be invited. Didn't save the chat, but from my notes: "You will receive an email inviting you to the shop", I pressed on whether a negative notification will be sent and they danced around that question as CS said that notification of delivery window will be on a "rolling basis". CS closed with "If you do move up, we'll let you know".

I don't understand why anything other than the pre-order date (and possibly place of delivery) impacts when a reservation holder gets invited to R1Shop. They list 'existing configuration' as one of the factors. When the purpose of R1Shop is to change your configuration why should the existing configuration matter.
I would really like to see communication from Rivian along the lines of 'all pre-orders before this date have been invited to R1Shop'.
This is a point people have been trying to smack me with. In that I haven't gone in and altered my configuration from OC to BM. Therefore I'm the idiot and no wonder I haven't heard from Rivian. I didn't change anything because Rivian told us in the April emails they would reach out to us. Now that 'process' is over (without me hearing from them) and we're waiting for invites to the R1 Slop.

Other than OC, I have a standard config - and I have to be one of the earliest non LE reservations in the country but have still never had direct communication from them.

They are a mess.

With your config and order date I'd be surprised if you aren't in the first few groups invited to the Shop.

/s Hey, somebody took a picture of one on a car carrier- we all know that's PROOF customer deliveries have started! Just because there's hundreds of people who have their R1S in their garage but don't post here it doesn't mean deliveries haven't happened.../s off
and they just keep it in their garage and dont drive around? pretty sure at least one would have been spotted and a pic taken and posted by a random person. probably like the R1T there is an embargo from employees posting about the R1S but eventually they will as well.

I noticed in the code when you're logged in now, there's this: "eligibleForNewVehicleInventoryMarketplace":null," I don't remember seeing this one before. So, my guess is once you are eligible, this would show "true" or something like that for the R1Shop. ?‍♂

The difference between Rivian and traditional manufacturers is in this case there's no dealers ordering inventory for their lots. Theoretically there should be no leftovers but it sounds like there's more folks bailing on orders than Rivian expected. I also think in Rivian's quest to batch orders and build whatever cars they have the parts to build at that moment they're just building certain vehicles and only assigning owners to them late in the process. If I go order a truck from GM it has my proverbial name on it from the moment it hits the assembly line because they have parts on hand to build it. They seem to do a better job than Rivian of forecasting parts inventory and builds to make sure they can build what customers are ordering.

Curious... anyone know how Tesla handles this?
it thats the case, its hard to believe they cant get order holders who are waiting to take available trucks. there are so many people complaining they haven't heard a peep from Rivian.

which makes me think the bottleneck was Guides. whatever system Rivian had in place, the Guides were overwhelmed because it was probably a pretty manual process and explains the "Rivian Lottery" phenomenon. they were scrambling to try to get as many vehicles out regardless of order date and more so about location and config.

which also explains why they created the R1 Shop. now its centralized command and control, it doesnt rely on Guides but software and allows customers to view inventory and select. that's going to be so much better.

Is this still showing up for people? I saw this in the api response yesterday when I logged in, but just tried again and on chrome it wouldn't let me actually log in until I did a hard refresh. Now that key is missing within "orderSnapshots".

Edit: just logged in again and it's back now - phew

Any idea if there will be a first come first served angle on the shop? Meaning if you're late to shop, but have an early preorder, could someone way behind you get a vehicle faster by shopping quicker?

It sounds like it is going to be very limited invites to the R1Shop. There is also going to be a 7 day window when a person is invited.

I would say if you get an invite go in as soon as you can. It will probably be like the November 2020 configuration process where it will be first come first served once invited.

Keep in mind, this is designed to deliver cars built with no associated reservation so they will want to get them assigned as soon as possible to keep the inventory moving.
