I am happy Rivian went old school for the child safety lock – set it and forget it. I don’t like wondering if it is still on in Teslas after a reboot or software update etc…
It's probably because they also (smartly) went with physical door handles. Even though they pop out, pulling on the handle physically releases the door. One less thing to worry about breaking!

Great to see that the UI has become snappy - was worried based on the first mile reviews of lags and such. The front camera looks great too (and rsymons first mile drive shows it in action).

Thanks for sharing!

Do side cameras only show front wheels or you have options to see rear wheels as well?
I can confirm that the front view shows the front tires, and the rear view shows the rear tires.

For those who are interested!

Thank you for taking the time to make and post this video! Between video content and answering questions (so many questions!) you've surely earned a title of some sort. Maybe Rivian Ambassador?

Looks good, and THANK YOU!

Camera's look okay, how do you feel the quality is compared to the Tesla camera?

And for the lack of 360° view, I really love the camera system and 3D angles for my Range Rover. The see through hood feature and transparent silhouette of the car while driving and parking is super useful. It's a shame Rivian doesn't have something like that, but neither did my Model S.

How's the sound system and adjustments?
The sound system sounds really nice actually and bass is stronger than almost all OEM offerings I've listened to. Pretty good treble and mids. Again surprisingly good compared with other auto manufacturers.

Thanks for uploading your content! It helps our curious minds out.

Coming from an older vehicle with no touch screen, I definitely can imagine this being a huge jump to learn. As excited as I am to get into my Rivian, the concept of "rebooting" a car is still wild to me.
When you have to reboot the car, that’s when you know something’s changed. They are more like a computer than a car. When you have to constantly Reboot your car, that’s when you know something’s wrong. Been thru both. Not a great feeling. I hope their software is stable

Thanks for the rundown and video! How does one receive and send texts via the infotainment system? I don't think I have ever seen that to date.

Also, are there any voice commands or voice to text?

Thanks again!

Thanks for the video. I have not seen a rear windshield wiper in any of the photos, can you confirm if there is one on the truck?
There is not.

I can't actually recall a truck with a rear windshield wiper. Can you? Not taking a dig at anyone here. It's a reasonable question, but I don't think that's ever been something on trucks.

I can't think of a single one, no.

I really can't stand that there are zero physical knobs or buttons.

Some sort of haptic / physical feedback is necessary while driving a car!
