Rivian in AWS Conference Keynote

Most of you won’t care past the one minute mark, but surfacing an interesting flex of Rivian product placement in the conference keynote.

Just because Alexa is in our vehicles doesn't mean that Rivian uses AWS (Infrastructure). You can setup Alexa using just the SDK on a Raspberry PI, or an instance in GCP (Infrastructure), as an example.

Yes, but it absolutely uses AWS. Nearly every connection from both the R1T and the Rivian Wall Charger is to AWS.

Rivian uses AWS HEAVILY. The data collected for ADAS training gets uploaded to AWS every time you connect to Wi-Fi (if you have a Gen 2 vehicle).

For my driving patterns it's usually 400-500gb/mo

Yeah I think they're in HARD CORE data collection mode to train their AI models. And I'm happy to help the cause! Doesn't really matter to me as my internet is fast and unlimited. But it's DEFINITELY an insane amount of data. Good news: for those that have data caps, you can always turn off data collection settings.
