Truth be told I'm not entirely sure they even CAN collect meaningful data from gen 1. Since it relies on a mobile eye computer, they don't have access to the data to be able to send in the same way the do with gen 2. This is my assumtion otherwise

Just because Alexa is in our vehicles doesn't mean that Rivian uses AWS (Infrastructure). You can setup Alexa using just the SDK on a Raspberry PI, or an instance in GCP (Infrastructure), as an example.

When Daddy Bezos gives you $1.2 billion, you do what Daddy Bezos says. Although now VW is giving them $6+ billion, so maybe VW is their new Daddy, or maybe their Zaddy!
