Sorry you are experiencing problems but you need to make an effort to provide more detail so that folks in this awesome community can either try and help you troubleshoot or provide empathy.

As it stands, I really am disinclined to do either based on your post so maybe try a little harder next time?

Also, if a little AC compressor noise is bothering you, you probably picked the wrong truck. Look on the bright side, you have two functioning windshield wipers that are normally sized and your R1T doesn't look like a Mad Max concept vehicle that was too ugly to actually be made.

Maybe this is more your speed?

These are the responses to new owners? Trolls and mocking? I understand that on his original post he is venting but there is a genuine issue here that is being glossed over. I've tried posting information regarding this issue to apparently deaf ears because this is a "normal" noise. The main point here is that on brand new high $$$ vehicles there are flaws still not addressed from Gen 1 vehicles and the common response is deal with it or return it.

Why do these posts always lack so much information and Feel vague on purpose? I have no doubt something is going on… but they always come from profiles with only a few posts/interactions.

Something just doesnt feel right.

In the other forums I’m on, many folks join and post the first time when they either love their car or have an issue. They aren’t usually trolls or anyone with an agenda. Usually they are excited or upset/stressed.

usually if they don’t know the forum or the car, their posts seem odd or vague because they don’t know how the forum works. It’s rare that they are bad actors.

That does happen, but the trend here, especially since the VW news has been.....lets just call it a coincidence maybe?

lol if folks here think the stock will move based on posts, there is an inflated sense of self worth.

interestingly I do see official manufacturer accounts in other forums. Does Rivian have one here? I haven’t seen it.
Welcome to the world of Wall St Bets my friend...

Also, Rivian isn't on here, but they surly have people watching. Some participate on the Rivian Reddit, but I can't stand Reddit, so I only hear about that here.

Most of the brand new owners who‘s first post is about an issue (or issues) receive immediate help from the community. Don’t take my word for it - look at the threads in the first couple pages of the forum. We all have choices to make about how we communicate and if someone chooses to make a ridiculous post like OPs, they may not get the responses they are hoping for.

Just for starters, OP complains about Rivian making defective “cars”, as if ALL other manufacturers don’t also make defective vehicles, including the one he compared to Rivian (Tesla).

There is no real detail of the issues or asking questions - just whining. IMO that is not someone seeking help. That is someone interested in throwing a hissy fit because things aren’t what they expected. It’s attention seeking behavior. And if you choose to throw your fit on the internet then you may encounter people who think it’s funny or stupid or childish.

In other words, if you want information or answers - ask for it. If you only want to whine and complain and don’t care about information or answers - get a therapist.

Also, so many people who complain like this, never open a ticket...they just send random e-mails to Rivian..

I've never once not had a ticket request responded to almost immediately.

Rivian stated about a year ago (maybe longer?) that r/Rivian on Reddit was their "official" social media channel. I can't blame them for limiting their active involvement to one channel. They definitely do monitor it. I posted a bug comment on Reddit and received a reply from u/wassym, SVP of software and it was addressed in a subsequent OTA. There is fairly regular interaction from u/wassym.

I think the bottom line is that we can't be more helpful without more info.

I think all the possibilities given here are plausible explanations. The only way to move it forward is for the OP to come back and provide more info.

My comment about returning it was mainly due to the title of the thread "Rivian delivers defective cars". If someone is having that strong of a negative experience I'm not sure they will be happy regardless. Maybe they were just extremely frustrated?

I’d also add that the OP came on here with a vague rant, followed up with a similarly vague video with no context…and then disappears. I get that they probably have better things to do and are under no obligation to answer forum questions, but what were they hoping for by taking the time to post? IMHO, you post the way they did and then disappear, the comments they got (ranging from welcoming & helpful to speculative & accusing them of trolling) are all fair game.

if they were going for a specific response (other than creating drama), they went about it the wrong way. Anyway, spent too much time on this thread already…

When I took delivery of my R1S in March I had a part swap needed before I took delivery, they had to delay that a week. To compensate they did a free home delivery. That part swap messed up RAN charging for me it seems which took months of reaching out and nearly begging for help to get it fixed. They finally figured the issue out and got me setup with a service center appointment faster than expected. I guess my main point here is things can break and it happens. I've had 2 big experiences with Rivian service since owning my car. First, they have gone well above and beyond to make sure I'm taken care of so when you say no one has reached out to you I'm a bit surprised actually. You could reach back out to them too for updates. I get very fast response when I do this and it helped me move my case along honestly. THey are new enough that they are just slammed with requests for help and it happens. Start up life really! Then secondly, because of the start up life they are living my only real issue has been lack of deep product knowledge on the part of support reps and I genuinely can't fault them on this really. I even told this to the managers I did speak to when they reached out after my case has been escalated. Service and support will be a bit shaky I think until the company grows and settles over time. It just will.

So, I encourage you to reach back out to them and be aggressive with requests for updates and help. They are nice to work with and will genuinely want to help.
