Replace 12V Battery, Car Bricked *Update*

For future reference, do you think if the car was plugged into the at home charger overnight, that error have avoided this? It usually is but was not this time. If so, in the future I’ll just make sure it’s plugged in every night before bed.

No. The 12v is not charged directly off of the AC charger.

My 12 volt battery also died, about a month after I took ownership. Subsequent to that I had repeated problems with the displays blacking out whilst driving. Ultimately that was diagnosed as being caused by a faulty display module. We are left wondering if that could be connected.

On a related note I love the idea of a scheduled 12 volt replacement. Does anyone care to speculate on how long they should last? My old EV's 12 volt failed after about 4 years in service, but it's clear that doesn't make sense for Rivians.

My R1T hasn't had any issues and total viola - received a popup on my app that need to 'Replace 12V Battery'. Please make a service appointment right away.

The truck is completely bricked. Won't open anything, nada on doors; nada on charging doors.

Any DYI tricks while I try to get Rivian to address? Help.

Not much to do in your case, because if you do somehow get it running via the jumper leads in the rear.. it's probably going to die first time you drive it somewhere. If you can make a mobile service appointment that will spare you getting the truck flatbedded to a Rivian SC.

Amazingly, the mobile service center was at my house within about 90 minutes. That is definitely not expected, in a good way.

EDIT: swapped out the 12V battery and now I'm up and running.
