R2 Email - Borealis and Launch Package?? Wait??

So I got the email to order the R2 and am very excited. Wife wants the Borealis and I want the Launch Package. The configurator obviously lets me select both the options and lets me confirm by specification but obviously Borealis isnt likely to be here until September and so there isnt a delivery window. Question is -
1. Will the Launch Package run last if we wait for the Borealis to show up?
2. If I confirm the Borealis/LaunchPackage config and if the Launch Package run is coming to an end before Borealis arrives does Rivian give you a notice to make a color change rather than lose the LP?

Obviously these are hypotheticals and everything in this forum is a 'first world problem' but this is our current existential crisis and hopefully someone here has some inside scoop or advise!

Nobody knows, but I doubt they are going to stop selling and building Launch Edition models before September.. I doubt they stop before the end of the year.

The fact that they let you configure launch green with the white interior which isnt available until september suggests that you can get the launch edition with other configurations such as borealis.

I would guess the launch edition goes away when the Lidar and new computer arrive. They are basically giving the additional stuff for free to make up for that.

Hard to say, in-house RAP1 means they stop paying the nvidia tax for autonomy.

Launch edition will be available for awhile, probably until EOY. If you get an order invite you'll get whatever exterior color and interior you want this year.

If you are able to submit an order right now that confirms your choices of color and interior and also mentions that it's a Launch Edition (which is the only option available right now), then Rivian should honor it. If they don't, then you can have an argument with them about it at the time.

That being said, considering the length of time you were able to get a Launch Edition R1, I don't see this being a problem for something that should be available in just a few months...

While no one knowns for certain and Rivian (from what I have seen) has not confirmed, it is a reasonable guess that if you place your order now and they let you select those option, that it will be a launch edition. This is a fair assumption based on their marketing and wording around what you can order currently. Of course, probably best to reach out to Rivian directly and get a few of their opinions in writing.

Also, great spec. This is very likely what I will be getting myself.

I think there is some unclear wording in this thread. You CANNOT place an order for any options that are currently unavailable, such as coastal cloud interior or forest green paint. If you try to do that, it says these options are unavailable currently but you can save that configuration to your favorites and they'll let you know when it becomes available for purchase.

So yeah anything you order today is launch edition obviously. And anything you order in the future is launch edition until they say otherwise. Saving a configuration is not ordering anything.
