Nah- it's on a few cars and it's just another glitzy, show-offish, fussy electro-mechanical bit to break and replace at some point.

Both my R1S (very rare) and Hyundai Ioniq 9 (50%+) will try to close the door in the middle of charging so I'll have to move the door with a bit of force in order to unplug. This always feels bad to do, especially on the flimsy Ioniq door.
Then there are the times they don't want to close or open.
Leaf and Pacifica were both manual and worked flawlessly.
I am happy for it to be manual.

Saw a clip on Instagram where someone took his R2 through a car wash and the charging door popped open even when in Car Wash Mode. Weird. Both of my Jeeps have a similar charging door set up and neither one those have ever popped open from a car wash. Neither lock or have a car wash mode. Hopefully just someone looking for clicks.

Exactly. The fuel filler flap on my ICE vehicle operates the exact same way and has never popped open during a car wash.

Had two Bolts over the past 6 years with push-to-open charge port doors and never had a problem. If you're used to a motorized door I can see where you might be worried but unless there's a car wash out there somewhere that's pushing directly on the door, it's a non-issue.

You'll be happy to not have to pay for a broken motorized door when out of warranty. Some things need to be complicated, this isn't one of them. Does anyone complain about not having motorized doors on high dollar ICE cars? No one.

If you care about paint, not a good idea to use one that isn''t touchless anyway.
