R2 Autonomy + experiences?

Coming from MY FSD, would like personal experiences with autonomy+ as it is today. Do the features work as expected at this point? How’s lane centering and active cruise? Co- steer? Just wondering if the basics are repeatable and predictable - thanks!

I'm coming from Enhanced Autopilot, so this may not be very helpful since you have FSD.

I'm very happy with Autonomy+ so far. It's very comparable to what I'm used to with EAP. Some thoughts:

• EAP = pull on the steering wheel here and there to show engagement.
• Autonomy+ = keep eyes on the road to show engagement.
• I prefer Autonomy+ because I can look at the road and never have to touch the wheel for longer periods of time compared to EAP. If I glance at the NAV, I get a warning. Based on what I've seen, if put my hand on the wheel, I get more leeway with glancing at the NAV (no warning).
• Changing lanes with blinker works great. Very comparable to EAP.
• I can "help" Autonomy+ by speeding up lane changes with the wheel and it doesn't shut down. EAP ends immediately when I do that and I have to restart it.
• Nothing to report about lane centering and active cruise, which is a good thing. Seems fine to me.

This all sounds great. When you set a speed does it hold it if traffic doesn’t cause a slow down? Because FSD sucks on this, slows up and speeds up randomly after a minute or so.

This is my second biggest gripe with FSD at this point. The first being that I cannot set a specific speed, since half the speed limits in the map data in my town are incorrect.

I was pleased enough with A+ in my short demo drive coming from 5 years of FSD usage. Hands free highway and ability to override the car speed are all I care about for now.

Exactly! Drives me crazy - if we could still set a max speed and do the speed offset as we used to it would fix most of this. And yes, doesn’t even know the speed limits all too often. And I shouldn’t have to toggle through profiles all the time to get close to a driving style that works. I’m so ready to move on after 8 years.

I disengage more now than I did a year ago, almost all because of speed issues. I think Tesla assumes everyone doesn't care about speeding, but my town has speed traps all the time.

I have around 5 hours of interstate driving in so far, most all of it using UHF. I remember one time that it just started slowing down for no apparent reason.

I noticed I was near an overpass and had flashbacks of my Model 3 rapidly slowing down (I would say, "slammed on the brakes", but that's a bit of hyperbole) when it would see one here and there. This was better than that, it was like I disengaged cruise and the vehicle was just slowing down.

That's all I can think of regarding speed changes.

Maybe it's a setting, but I would like to change the space UHF/cruise maintains between my vehicle and the one in front. It's a pretty big gap currently.

I had some really unpleasant and dangerous experiences with A+. Severe phantom braking on highways that could induce rear ending. Violent ping ponging to the point where the car might have lost control if I didn’t take over. Just couldn’t trust it anymore and never used it again.

In the R2?

My G1 R1S has some of that, I’ve used it enough to know what to look for.

In the R2, huge improvements. On roads I’ve used the R1 driver+ and consistently had issues, the R2 has been pretty smooth.

I need to confirm next time I drive, but I think on the R2, the right scroll wheel mode can be changed by clicking it left or right. I know one option is the UHF/cruise speed. The other is "Maps and Navigation". I don't recall there being another option.

Having said that, I'm sure they will be adding the Autonomy drive style feature you mentioned at some point. Maybe it's there and I'm just missing it.

Sorry - you're correct, I didn't see the headline. But I thought same/similar was true for R2?

From the 'Autonomy' section in Settings...

I guess I'm selecting the default here since moving left and right switches between them when driving.

I don't think there's a setting to control the distance from the car in front of you yet.
