They aren’t cheap ($398 for 1), but they do appear to be well made. And I love that the bikes will sit lower vs up on the crossbars

Here’s a simpler, cheaper bike mounting option. A through axle mount can be attached to a piece of wood, metal or bolted directly to the truck bed. In the photo it shows my e-mtb mounted in my FJ Cruiser. It’s simple and works. If only one bike is being mounted in the R1T, it could be done while still allowing the tailgate to be closed. The bike would just have to be situated diagonally in the bed. Of course, more than one, full sized bike may still require an open tailgate, with that short bed. As an added security measure, the front wheel could be stored in the vehicle.
