Question on our audio systems....

Looks like a lot of solid audio brainiacs here so hopefully some light can be shed on my issue. 2025 R1T Gen 2 with the premium audio. Apple Music with Atmos on. A song will start with no Atmos icon comfortable volume at 10 sounding good, clean, nice punch, maybe 20 seconds in the volume will drop by 1/3 as the Atmos logo pops up and it sounds like crap, muddy, speakers vanish, i dial the volume up to 14. It’s like the song starts playing before the truck has downloaded all the data and then when all the data is downloaded Atmos locks on but the quality is junk which is the reverse of what I think should happen. Software reset didn’t make a difference. Should I turn off Atmos? Is this a known bug? is this unique to my truck? I just figured Atmos would be the way to go,since my truck has The upgraded sound system. Appreciate insights and thoughts!

Pretty sure it's an Apple Music setting to lower quality when it can't stream fast enough from a recent update. Mine does the same on the Gen 1. It used to go pause tracks in the past vs. lower the quality from my experience.

This thread has me scared I'm going deaf. Gen 1 Meridian and my volume doesn't move off of 21. Had a Gen 2 loaner for a week and anything over 16 sounded not so great.

Man, what are y'all doing? I have Gen 1 Meridian and I put mine on like 3.

Also, get off my lawn and I should probably go get my prostate checked.

Gen1 Elevation. No complaints. It has even gotten better and slightly less distortion prone with age.

I had the opposite problem in my Gen 1. Max comfortable was 4 to 5, with 3 being best and 2 being too quiet. Really annoying. Above 5 was way too loud (and I have slight hearing loss in one ear). After a couple of months of not figuring out why it was like that, I switch from my long time custom EQ to a factory EQ and BOOM, it reset the scaling (or whatever you want to call it) and now normal listening volume is 5 to 9 depending on the source, etc. You might try that?

I 've played in rock bands for years, so I save my hearing damage allocation for gig nites and preserve it in the car.

Gen1 R1S with Rivian Elevation audio. Agree w/ superfluid's detailed info & EQ curve. If I'm actively listening and alone in the car, I use Apple Music, no spacial surround nonsense, Dolby Atmos OFF, volume typically at 12. If I've got passengers and we are talking it's between 4-8. FWIW I was a professional audio engineer for about 12 years. I've done acoustic design and treatment for a handful of studios and media production facilities and still dabble/consult occasionally.

I am big on EDM (Techno, Trance mostly). What EQ setting would you recommend for rave music genres? I also produce/DJ but am not good enough to tackle the sound design aspect for the Rivian's EQ settings.

Appreciate your input. I can't wait for my R2 Delivery and really want to dial the EQ settings in perfectly for EDM
