PSA on Loose Underbody Shield Bolts

I had already lost a few the first time I checked. Tightened several that were pretty loose, and made a ticket. Mobile came out and took inventory of all that were missing. They had to order the screws, which seemed strange but the tech said there were a bunch of different sizes and he had to see which ones I need. I would think you'd stock bins of them on the truck, but whatever. Got a call last night that the screws were "in" to setup another appointment.

I am taking delivery of my R1S on Friday. I have the underbody shield and this is one of the first things I will check when I get home. Does anyone know the screw specs and torque specs for re-tightening? I might spend some time over the weekend removing each screw, applying loctite, and re-installing them just to be on the safe side.

Anybody know all that is needed, for tools (sizes)? Would rather not have to get in and out of underneath truck many times to collect more tools...

I had checked mine when I got the truck. All was well tighten but there were 4 missing screws. So happen I was at the SC one day and I mentioned it to the tech. He helped to sort it out immediately while I was there. But yes, worth to crawl under to check each of the screws out.

There's probably still some variance. I don't know if QC checks this at the Service Center, but I did find it odd that all of my bolts had the same color witness marks except for one. I actually brought a tarp and got under the truck at the SC before taking delivery specifically to check for loose or missing bolts.

All are still tight after 1 week / ~300 miles.

SN? Mine’s 991x and am hoping Rivian fixed this by then… out at the ocean and it’s a monsoon out, so can’t crawl under until I get home on Saturday.

I don't think that's correct. Reinforced underbody shield is steel in the middle AND carbon fiber at the front and back. At least that's what mine is.
