thanks!

have you also noticed the fans spraying water onto the windshield? I noticed this today, water dripping down the hood gets sprayed by the fans up onto the windshield.
I have not.

  • climate
    • the quick access button for heat/ventilation, I want to have a way to toggle between heat/ventilation modes. Right now, it only cycles through the level of the given mode; you have to go into the full climate screen to switch between modes
If this is what I’m picturing, a UI fix could be to permit a long press of the quick access button which displays a small pop-up for direct access to the desired mode and level. I could see the pop up as a small horizontal strip with high ventilation at far left leading through settings to off in the middle then ramping up to high heat on the right.

Uh, it's not a new Tesla. There's a wiper stalk with a hardware button. Up and down on the switch to increase and decrease. There is a driver screen pop up that confirms exactly which mode you're in, but you can easily infer that from the wiper speed just as you would moving a stalk up and down.

But also, the auto mode works, and I find no need to manually adjust the wiper speed. Tap on the end for one wipe, hold for spray. It's very easy to operate with the hardware stalk and not at all buried in on screen menus.
Thanks. I had read elsewhere that there wasn't a wiper stalk, so that's a relief. Great to hear the auto mode is good.

There is a pocket in the driver and passenger side door, right? Rivian or maybe someone here suggested a water bottle might fit. Can't you keep you case in there and use to store sunglasses in when off?
Hey, we don't need any of that logic stuff here....

Obviously, this is a good idea and one that hadn't even occurred to me, not that I've given any thought to it at this point.

Yeah not sure why they aren’t using that pocket or the center console. It’s the most baffling complaint about the car. There are so many places to store things Rivian even put out an Instagram video about it today.

Overhead sunglasses holder, additional cup holders, HomeLink mirror/visor… all of these are handy items that are present in a lot of comparable vehicles. They may not be dealbreakers, but if you’re accustomed to them today and there aren’t equivalent or better alternatives in your new vehicle it can be frustrating. Maybe the under seat storage will be perfect for sunglasses, but until you’ve experienced the alternatives regularly for a period of time it’s hard to say for sure if it’s as easy to use as something that’s been in use for a while.

It’s kind of like the yoke on the Model S/X. It’s different and unique, but has pros and cons. A lot of people love it, others hate it.

If the sunglasses holder was an obscure feature that no road car had ever had before I could understand being flummoxed by someone’s disappointment in its omission, but it’s a pretty common feature in trucks and SUVs.

You are literally buying a game changing electric truck with a first in a truck frunk, first ever gear tunnel and all kinds other innovative storage options you are hung up not having an old school peepers keeper for your Blue Blockers?

I’m not. I’m saying I understand why someone else would. Have you used under seat storage for frequent sunglasses use? If not how can you possibly say it’s as good or better for that commenter’s use case?

Tesla is/was a game changer. People have lots of gripes about using them day-to-day. Just because a vehicle pushes boundaries doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

I drive a model S. I don’t have gripes about using it day to day. I also drive A Toyota 4Runner and 1975 Land Cruiser. None of them have the 1980s domestic drop down sunglasses holder. I live in Southern California and wear sunglasses every single day. It’s a miracle I’ve been able to adapt apparently.

I spy with my little eye...x2 sunglasses! I have seen some womens huge ones that might not fit under the seat, but you could fit 6 pair in the side door pocket...

Everyone is different. The entire point of this thread is for personal gripes. That doesn’t mean you have to share in someone else’s gripe or even empathize with it, but you also don’t have to give others grief because they don’t see a clear solution to a problem that has been solved by their current vehicle.

The title of this thread should be: What are your biggest gripes so far and how likely would you be to buy this again? In other words, what are your gripes but are you still happy with $85K Rivian?

I agree, I like cubbies. sunglasses or whatever. I like everything in it's place.

This has been talked about, but the audio entertainment options I think are lacking at the moment. The Bluetooth streaming is not well integrated like other vehicles, there are no installable apps, Alexa doesn’t support Apple Music or sxm, and the fm radio interface is hard to use. Lastly no apple car play, huge bummer in my opinion.

The sound system itself is awesome from an audio quality perspective, so hopefully with some software updates things will be better in the future.

Surprising about Alexa not supporting Apple Music. Seems to support Pandora and other music services. Is this an explicit omission?

On CarPlay, I hope whoever at Rivian told Jason Cammisa it's coming was right.
